A health-monitor patch comprising at least one physiological sensor and digital processor is configured to be adhered to the skin of a subject. A health-monitor patch may further include an accelerometer and may detect cardiac waveforms, activity performed by the subject, and a body orientation of the subject. A health-monitor patch may be disposable, in some embodiments, and used fox outpatient monitoring. Aspects of noise cancellation and reel-to-reel manufacturing are also described.

In one embodiment, a method for implementing two-way communication between at least first and second devices comprises steps of: (a1) during finite time periods following transmission of respective first messages from the first device to the second device, using the first device to listen for second messages transmitted from the second device to first device; and (a2) after each of the finite time periods following the transmission of the respective first messages from the first device to the second device, ceasing to use the first device to listen for second messages transmitted from the second device to the first device until after the first device transmits another first message to the second device.

The ironing board having extendable ironing surfaces includes a traditional ironing board, a plurality of extendable ironing surfaces, a rear detachable basket, and a detachable leg basket. The plurality of extendable ironing surfaces attach to and rotate about a hinge that is also mounted to the undersurface of the main ironing surface. The rear detachable basket connects onto a clip mounted at the rear, underneath surface of the main ironing surface in order to prevent reduction in the surface area of the main ironing surface. The leg basket connects via attaching arms and rotates about one of the intersecting legs, and rests upon a second leg.

An manual activation mechanism for an electronic flushometer system. A manual activation or override plate has a sensor switch directly coupled thereto and is hingedly connected to a sensor bracket. When a user presses the manual activation or override plate, the sensor switch acts against a bumper, which is compressed to create an electrical contact with a printed circuit board. The electrical contact results in the transmission of an electrical signal to a solenoid system, actuating a flushometer valve.

A toilet room flush valve includes a body with an inlet and an outlet and a valve seat therebetween. A valve assembly in the body is positioned to close upon the seat to control flow from the inlet to the outlet. A cover is mounted upon the body and defines a pressure chamber with the valve assembly. A bypass connects the inlet and the pressure chamber whereby pressure in the chamber maintains the valve assembly upon the seat. The pressure chamber may be vented to permit movement of the valve assembly toward the cover. The stroke of the valve assembly is limited by a volume regulator which is fixed to the cover and an adjustable microcontroller which is movable with the valve assembly and positioned to contact the volume regulator upon venting of the pressure chamber and consequent movement of the valve assembly.

A liquid soap dispenser includes a housing, a shank that engages a base of the housing, a soap path retainer disposed in the interior of the housing, a shank adapter disposed in the shank, and an infrared sensor to sense the presence of a user. A generally continuous passageway is defined through the shank adapter and the soap path retainer such that an elongated soap delivery tube of a liquid soap reservoir may be inserted through the passageway from the bottom of the soap dispenser to the spout end. The reservoir may be attached to the bottom end of the shank adapter. The soap path retainer is preferably formed of complementary halves, such as by plastic injection molding, that mate together to provide a curved passageway from near the base of the housing to the soap dispensing end and to support the sensor assembly.

A cap assembly for closing an access opening in a plumbing fitting includes a cap for rotatable attachment to the plumbing fitting, with the cap having an interior surface which faces the plumbing fitting. There is an elastomeric friction ring positioned between the cap interior surface and the plumbing fitting, which friction ring has a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections facing and in contact with the plumbing fitting. The projections are formed and adapted to require less torque when the cap is rotatably attached to the plumbing fitting than when said cap is rotatably removed from the plumbing fitting.

A flush valve includes a body having an inlet and an outlet and a valve seat at the outlet. There is a piston assembly movable in the body toward and away from the valve seat to control flow from the inlet through the outlet. A pressure chamber is formed in the body above the piston assembly, at least in part by a cover attached to the body. Pressure in the pressure chamber normally maintains the piston assembly closed upon the valve seat. There is a relief valve in the piston assembly for venting the pressure chamber to the outlet, permitting the piston assembly to move away from the valve seat to open flow through the outlet. There is an adjustment assembly located in the flush valve cover which permits adjustment of piston assembly stroke. The adjustment assembly includes a housing mounted in the cover, a sleeve axially movable in the housing, and an adjustment element for causing movement of the sleeve.

An electronic faucet sensor assembly includes a base having a pair of openings facing in a generally downward direction when the assembly is mounted in an electronically operated faucet. There is an infrared transmitter positioned in one of the openings and an infrared receiver positioned in the other opening. There is a lens mounted to the base and covering the transmitter and a second lens mounted to the base and covering the receiver. Electrical lead wires are attached to the transmitter and to the receiver and the lead wires extend through a channel located in the base. There is a strain relief at one end of the channel and there is a rib to isolate the leads extending between the strain relief and the transmitter and receiver so as to prevent electrical contact therebetween. The channel is filled with a potting compound to provide a watertight environment for the electrical components.
