An example assembly includes a main housing having an internal chamber therein; an electric motor disposed in the internal chamber of the main housing and comprising (i) a stator that is fixedly-positioned in the internal chamber of the main housing, and (ii) a motor rotor positioned within the stator and rotatable relative to the stator; a hydraulic pump positioned in the main housing, at least partially within the motor rotor of the electric motor, wherein the hydraulic pump is configured to receive fluid from an inlet port and provide fluid flow to an outlet port, wherein the hydraulic pump comprises a pump drive shaft rotatably-coupled to the motor rotor of the electric motor; and a plurality of cooling fluid channels formed in the main housing and configured to allow fluid to circulate through the main housing to cool the main housing.

A drive system for a zero turning radius (ZTR) vehicle includes a steering control and a sensor configured to receive a position of the steering control. A damper is coupled to the steering control and is configured to apply a selectable amount of resistive force to the steering control. A controller is in communication with the sensor and is configured to operate a motor of the ZTR vehicle responsive to the position of the steering control, and to operate the damper to apply a resistive force to the steering control responsive to actuation of the steering control.

An example electric motor includes a housing, a stator fixed relative to the housing, a rotor, a brake assembly, a first bearing, and a second bearing. The rotor has a hub portion, a cylindrical portion, and a disk portion. The hub portion of the rotor has a first end, a second end, and a through hole therethrough. The brake assembly is fixed relative to the housing and configured to selectively couple the disk portion of the rotor to the housing. The first bearing is mounted between the first end of the hub portion of the rotor and the disk portion of the rotor. The second bearing is mounted between the second end of the hub portion of the rotor and the disk portion of the rotor.

A linear motor includes a forcer having a plurality of teeth spaced apart along a longitudinal axis of the forcer. At least some teeth arranged about a longitudinal center of the forcer are dimensioned different from at least some other teeth arranged at ends of the forcer distal from the longitudinal center. The teeth may be dimensioned to define a pocket relative to the longitudinal axis of the forcer.

Cornering linear motor

A linear motor is provided which includes members for engaging a magnet rail to prevent bending of the magnet rail. Such members may include a wheel or sliding block, for example. The members exert a force proximate an upper edge of the magnet rail to counter potential bending of the magnet rail during operation of the motor, and thereby avoid substantial variations in the air gaps. Furthermore, an armature yoke is provided which includes at least one partial tooth at one end of the armature yoke for reducing an end effect cogging of the linear motor armature in relation to a magnet rail along which the armature will run. In addition, an armature yoke is provided which includes multiple segments which are held end-to-end via fasteners. Such fasteners may serve as part of the magnetic flux path. A support strip may be provided to reduce bowing.

A stator wound resolver comprising: a stator and a rotor aligned on an axis; the stator having a plurality of teeth with input and output windings disposed on some or all of the teeth, the input and output windings exhibiting a mutual inductance characteristic that varies as a function of position of the rotor about the axis; the input winding being connectable to a drive signal and the output windings being disposed on the teeth such that output signals induced in the output windings correspond to position of the rotor; the rotor being attachable to a position changing means, the rotor comprising at least two axially spaced rotor pieces that are offset from each other by a stagger angle such that a portion of harmonic distortion produced by one of the rotor pieces is reduced by complementary harmonic distortion produced by another of the rotor pieces.

A rotational position transducer comprising a rotor having annularly spaced teeth and a stator with a pole face configuration comprising annularly spaced teeth opposing the rotor teeth. One or more pole windings are energized by an alternate current source, and one or more output voltages induced in pole windings are produced with components having a characteristic which varies as a function of the angular position of the rotor relative to the stator. The output voltages may be either amplitude or phase modulated as a function of rotor position. The transducer may be combined with a stepping motor having an identical pole configuration.
