A retrofit LED linear lamp lampholder for use with LED linear lamps having two terminal ends and used in lighting fixtures having spaced apart opposing end walls. The retrofit LED linear lamp lampholder has a pair of endcaps, each endcap having a first end that fits on one of the terminal ends of a LED linear lamp, and a second end with an engagement mechanism that is adapted to contact with one of the end walls of the lighting fixture. In at least in one of the endcaps there is a movement mechanism for moving said second end of said at least one endcap away from its associated terminal end of LED linear lamp. For use with conventional LED linear lamps with electrical pins at terminal ends, there are electrical contacts in of the endcaps having LED linear lamp energizing lead wires that exit the endcaps.

Retrofit LED linear lamp lampholder for lighting fixtures

A solid-state lighting arrangement (10) designed for use within a lighting fixture (100) having existing ballast circuitry (110) for powering one or more discharge lamps. The solid-state lighting arrangement (10) includes a solid-state light source (50) and a startup delay circuit (60) coupled to light source (50). During operation, delay circuit (60) prevents application of power to light source (50) for a startup delay period, so as to provide compatibility with a wide variety of existing ballasts, as well as enhanced compatibility with the protection circuitry that is present in many existing ballasts.

An LED linear lamp assemblage. The assemblage has two LED linear lamp sections, each LED linear lamp section with an elongated tube with a transparent or translucent cover that connects to the base portion that defines a space inside. A circuit board with a plurality of spaced apart LEDs and electrical connectors are disposed within the space. At first ends of the two LED linear lamp sections are pin(s) for connecting to a power source, and the electrical connectors are located near second ends of each LED linear lamp section. A joiner unit is provided for mechanically connecting and holding the two LED linear lamps sections together at their second ends. When the two LED linear lamp sections are connected at their second ends to establish electrical connection the LED linear lamp assemblage is complete.

A LED linear lamp that eliminates the cave effect by transmits the majority of its light downwardly in a main illumination direction and a lesser amount of light upwardly in a secondary illumination direction that is in a direction opposite to the main illumination direction. The LED linear lamps of the invention have one or more circuit boards with LEDs positioned thereon. These circuit boards with LEDs are positioned in a light transparent or translucent tube. Down lighting in the main illumination direction is provided by having some LEDs facing downwardly in the primary illumination direction, while up lighting is provided by having some LEDs facing upwardly or by provision of light transmission holes in the circuit board to permit some light leakage upwardly.
