A process for producing non-solid-stated polyester polymer particles having one or more properties similar to polyester polymer particles that have undergone solid-state processing. In one embodiment, the process comprises (a) forming polyester polymer particles from a polyester polymer melt; (b) quenching at least a portion of the particles, (c) drying at least a portion of the particles, (d) crystallizing at least a portion of the particles, (e) annealing at least a portion of the particles. At all points during and between steps (b) through (e), the average bulk temperature of the particles is maintained above 165&#xb0; C.

Disclosed is a method for the re-compression of process generated steam to create a higher pressure steam that is useful as a heating medium in other parts of a carboxylic acid production process or, in general utilized in another process. The invention comprises the following basic steps: (a) recovering thermal energy from at least a portion of the high temperature process stream resulting from an aromatic carboxylic acid production process in a first heat transfer zone to produce a low pressure stream; (b) subjecting the low pressure steam to a compression zone to generate an intermediate pressure steam; (c) utilizing the intermediate pressure steam as a heating medium, specifically within other parts of the carboxylic acid process or generally in another process thereby generating steam condensate; and (d) optionally, recycling all or part of the steam condensate to the second heat transfer zone for low pressure steam generation.

Disclosed is a process for the preparation of amines by continuously feeding a carboxamide, aqueous alkaline hypohalite, and aqueous alkaline hydroxide to a first reaction zone to form a N-halocarboxamide, measuring the concentration of at least one reaction component in the effluent from the first reaction zone, and using the result of that measurement to control the feed rate of at least one of the feed components of to achieve at least 90% conversion of the carboxamide in the first reaction zone. The effluent from the first reaction zone is fed continuously to a second reaction zone where it further reacts to form an aqueous solution of an amine. The effluent from the second reaction zone may be fed continuously to a distillation column. The process is particularly useful for the preparation of cyclopropylamine.
