The present invention relates to compositions such as fibers, elastic yarns, wovens, nonwovens, knitted fabrics, fine nets, and articles produced at least in part from a styrenic block copolymer comprising at least two blocks produced from vinyl aromatic monomers and at least one block produced from alkyl-substituted, conjugated alkene monomers, where the block produced from the conjugated alkene may have sufficient substitution so as to prevent or significantly minimize thermal cross-linking of the residual unsaturation in the formed block during fiber formation. Additionally, the composition may be described as processable, without requiring any additives if, for example, the order-disorder-transition (ODT) temperature is less than about 280&#xb0; C.

The invention is a two part composition useful for initiating cure of one or more polymerizable monomers which cure when exposed to free radicals comprising in one part an organoboraneamine complex and in a second part an isocyanate which is capable of decomplexing the organoborane complex wherein the ratio of amine nitrogen atoms to boron atoms is greater than 4.0:1.0. In one embodiment the invention is a polymerizable composition comprising a) an organoborane amine complex; b) one or more of monomers, oligomers or polymers having olefinic unsaturation which is capable of polymerization by free radical polymerization; c) one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization; and d) a catalyst for the polymerization of the one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization. This composition may further comprise a compound which causes the organoborane amine complex to disassociate. In a preferred embodiment, the two part composition further comprises a compound which is reactive with both the b) one or more of monomers, oligomers or polymers having olefinic unsaturation which is capable of polymerization by free radical polymerization; and the c) one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization. This composition can be polymerized by contacting the two parts of the composition. In another embodiment the invention is an organoborane amine complex comprising an alkyl borane having ligands which are alkyl, cycloalkyl or both and an amino siloxane.

The invention is a two part polymerizable composition comprising in one part an organoborane amine complex and one or more compounds containing ring opening heterocyclic moieties, and in a second part, compounds capable of being polymerized by free radical polymerization, a catalyst capable of polymerizing compounds containing ring opening heterocyclic moieties and optionally a component that will decomplex the organoborane amine complex. In one embodiment the invention is a two phase system comprising a first phase containing one or more polymers prepared from the compounds which polymerize by free radical polymerization and a second phase comprising polymerized or partially polymerized compounds derived from one or more compounds containing ring opening heterocyclic moieties. In one embodiment the polymer prepared from compounds containing heterocyclic ring opening moieties is not miscible with the polymer prepared by free radical polymerization and thus the resulting polymerized composition has at least two regions each rich in one of the two polymers formed. In another embodiment the polymerizable compositions of the invention can be formulated into adhesive compositions. Adhesive compositions of the present formulation provide excellent adhesion to low surface energy plastics from room temperature to temperatures over 125&deg; C.

A method of modifying the surface of a low surface energy polymer by contacting the surface with a composition comprising a) an organoborane/amine complex wherein the amine is selected from the group of amines having an amidine structural component; aliphatic heterocycles having at least one nitrogen in the heterocyclic ring; an alicyclic compound having bound to the ring a substituent having an amine moiety; amines which in addition to a primary amine have one or more hydrogen bond accepting groups of an ether, polyether, thioether or halogen wherein there is an alkylene chain of at least two carbon atoms between the primary amine and the hydrogen bond accepting group, and conjugated imines; b) one or more of monomers, oligomers or polymers having olefinic unsaturation; and optionally, c) an effective amount of a compound which causes the complex to disassociate.

This invention is a composite membrane for chemical synthesis, a chemical reactor into which the composite membrane might be incorporated, and a method of using the composite membrane. The composite membrane comprises a substrate, a first side, and a second side, wherein the substrate operatively connects the first side and second side, the first side comprises an oxidizing catalyst and the second side comprises a reducing catalyst. The reducing catalyst comprises, in elemental or combinative form, lanthanum, zinc, cerium, praeseodymium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, lutetium, bismuth, or indium. A chemical reactor utilizing this composite membrane can react hydrogen and oxygen to form hydrogen peroxide without direct mixture of the reactants.
