Drawtape includes a film of a polymeric blend of a minor polymer component of linear low density polyethylene and a major polymer component of medium density polyethylene and/or high density polyethylene. The drawtape of the disclosed subject matter is capable of a strong seal with a commercial polymeric bag, and provides a high elongation prior to tape failure or seal failure. Drawtape bag and method of making the drawtape are also provided.

Rolling action reclosable fastener comprises a male track including a male profile, a female track including a female profile, and a slider disposed on the male and female tracks to matingly engage the male profile and the female profile. The slider includes a back and a pair of sidewall depending therefrom. The slider also includes a separator finger depending from the back between the pair of sidewalls and shaped along its length to first press together a bottom of the male and female profiles and then roll the profiles closed toward a top thereof as the slider moves toward the closed condition. The male profile comprises a base and a rib with a hook portion having an inwardly-directed surface including a projection defining an engagement surface. The female profile comprises a base and a first flange having an inwardly-directed surface including a projection defining an engaging surface. The engaging surface of the female track engages the engagement surface of the male track when in a closed condition with at least a portion of the male profile received by at least a portion of the female profile. A reclosable plastic bag with a rolling action reclosable fastener is also provided.

The present invention relates to plastic reclosable fasteners with sliders for opening and closing the reclosable fasteners on plastic bags and the like and particularly to the use of protruding end stop structures on reclosable fasteners to prevent travel of sliders past the fastener ends. The end stop structures include at least one of high density polyethylene, to medium density polyethylene, polypropylene, a cyclic olefin copolymer, a high density material, or a high modulus material and may optionally include low density polyethylene or linear low density polyethylene.

Ultrasonic end stops and methods of making ultrasonic end stops are provided. A slider is adapted for use with a reclosable fastener for bags containing material. The reclosable fastener includes a first track and a second track. The first track includes a first profile, while the second track includes a second profile. The first and second profiles are releasably engageable to each other. At least one of the first and second profiles has an interior portion. The slider comprises a body that includes a top, a first side, a second side and a separation member on an underside of the top. The separation member is adapted to open and close the fastener and includes a slider finger that extends generally downwardly from the top. The slider finger extends into an interior portion of the first profile so as to assist in removing material trapped in the interior portion of the first profile when closing the reclosable fastener.

Reclosable fasteners or zippers for use with polymeric bags

Packages with active agents are described. Generally, the disclosed packages have a pair of opposing body panels joined together along a pair of opposing sides and a bottom bridging the sides so as to define a mouth opposite the bottom, a reclosable fastener extending along the mouth, and an active agent. The reclosable fastener includes a pair of polymeric tracks, in which each of the tracks includes a mating element and a fin portion. The mating elements are releasably engageable to each other, and each of the fin portions extends downwards from the respective mating element towards the bottom of the reclosable package. The active agent is associated with at least one of the fin portions for communication with the interior of the reclosable package.

A fastener for a plastic bag comprising a male track including a male profile and an optional first fin extending from the male profile and a female track including a female profile and an optional second fin extending from the female profile. At least one of the first and second fins and/or one of the male and female profiles comprises a cyclic olefin copolymer or a combination of a cyclic olefin copolymer and one or more additional polymers. The cyclic olefin copolymer has a glass transition temperature, T , of greater than about 20&deg; C. as determined by ASTM D3418. The cyclic olefin copolymer may comprise from about 10 to about 90 mol. % norbornene. The additional polymer is selected from a polyolefinic resin, an engineering resin, and a combination thereof.

Fins and profiles for plastic bags

A drawtape bag comprising a pair of pliable thermoplastic body panels, a pliable drawtape and an elastomeric strip. The pair of pliable thermoplastic body panels are joined to each other along a pair of opposing sides and a bottom bridging the opposing sides. At least one of the body panels forms a hem extending along a mouth end disposed opposite the bottom. The hem includes one or more drawtape holes. The pliable drawtape is housed within the hem and includes a gathered section. The drawtape is partially exposed by the drawtape holes which allow the drawtape to be pulled therethrough to close the bag and to be used as a handle. The elastomeric strip is connected to the gathered section of the drawtape. The elastomeric strip comprises behenamide to inhibit or prevent blocking of the elastomeric strip to the hem or drawtape.
