A mounting system includes a pressure vessel having a longitudinal axis, a retaining strap disposed around the pressure vessel, a carrier element having an aperture formed therein to receive the retaining strap therethrough to secure the carrier element to the pressure vessel, and a mounting element coupled to the carrier element and adapted to be coupled to a mounting point to secure the pressure vessel, wherein the longitudinal axis of the pressure vessel is disposed at an non-horizontal resting angle.

An integrated aerodynamic energy storage and rear suspension assembly includes a rear fuel tank/suspension module, a battery support assembly and a structural joining plate. The rear fuel tank/suspension module includes a rear sandwich panel, a fuel tank assembly mounted on the rear sandwich panel, with the rear fuel tank/suspension module sliding into a rear body cavity. The battery support assembly includes a propulsion battery mounted on a front sandwich plate, with the front sandwich plate having an upper face sheet adjacent to the propulsion battery, a lower face sheet spaced from the upper face sheet and a core connecting the upper face sheet to the lower face sheet, and with the lower face sheet having a smooth lower surface.

Integrated energy storage and rear suspension assembly

An automotive body and trim assembly is provided that utilizes locating features on only a single sheet metal layer of a multi-layer body frame pillar to position a trim member, thus minimizing variability in the final assembled position of the trim member. The single sheet metal layer has both a fore-aft-locating feature and a cross-car-locating feature. A fore-aft-positioning feature and a cross-car-positioning feature on the pillar trim member are spaced to permit contact with the fore-aft-locating feature and the cross-car-locating feature, respectively when the pillar trim member is assembled with the body frame pillar, so that only the single sheet metal layer determines the fore-aft and cross-car position of the pillar trim member. A method of assembling a pillar trim member and a body frame pillar having multiple sheet metal layers is also provided.

Automotive body and trim assembly with complementary locating and positioning features and method of assembling same

The invention concerns a vehicle body panel. The vehicle body panel, such as a floor pan, may have a generally planar portion adapted to be located adjacent to and conceal a vehicle component, such as a fuel pump module. An access portion is located within and extends out of plane of the generally planar portion, and includes a periphery, wherein the access portion is integral with the generally planar portion. Also, a cutting guide feature extends around it adjacent to the periphery.

Vehicle body panel access feature

A roof structure for a vehicle body includes a roof opening defined by a pair of spaced apart side rails, each having a flange extending inwardly and being vertically offset below the roof surface, and by front and rear headers, each having a flange defining a window opening. A roof panel assembly includes a roof outer panel and a pair of inverted hat-shaped reinforcement rails which underlie the outer side edges of the roof outer panel and include inwardly and outwardly directed legs abutting the underside of the roof outer panel. The outermost portion of the side edges of the roof outer panel are hem flanged over the outwardly directed flanges of the reinforcement rails so that the roof outer panel and the reinforcement rails define the roof panel assembly. The roof outer panel has fore and aft end flanges which overlie the flanges of the front and rear headers and are spot welded thereto. A bead of adhesive is placed on the inwardly extending flanges of the side rails and the roof panel assembly is lowered into the roof opening with the base wall of the reinforcement rails pressed onto the adhesive to attach the roof panel assembly to the vehicle body. The subsequent installation of the front and rear windows hides the spot welds.
