A neonatal incubator system includes an enclosure having side panels that create a chamber that receives an infant. At least one of the side panels is movable between an upright closed position and a retracted open position. A side panel latch assembly is positioned to permit and prevent movement of the movable side panel between the open and closed positions. The side panel latch assembly includes a movable latch lever having a primary latch member and a secondary latch member that are spaced from each other. The primary latch member engages a first catch on a latch receptable to hold the side panel latch assembly in the latched position. The secondary latch member engages a second catch on the latch receptacle when the side panel is partially open. The primary and secondary latch members move together with the latch lever to release both the primary and secondary latch members.

Systems and methods are provided for wirelessly obtaining a physiological signal from a patient. In one embodiment, a system comprises a plurality of sensors spaced apart from one another and adapted to measure physiological signals from a patient, and a communication module configured to wirelessly transmit the physiological signals measured by the plurality of sensors to a computing device. In this way, a fabric cover with the plurality of sensors and the communication module integrated therein may be washable and/or disposable while also enabling acquisition of an ECG signal and/or heart rate for neonatal or infant care applications.

Systems and methods for wirelessly obtaining a physiological signal from a patient

A method of sensing the heart rate and blood oxygen saturation of a maternal patient and a fetal patient can include obtaining maternal electrocardiogram (mECG) data and fetal electrocardiogram (fECG) data with a plurality of electrodes. The method can also include obtaining photosignal data with an optical sensor, the photosignal data including a maternal photosignal component and a fetal photosignal component. Additionally, the method can include applying mECG to the photosignal data to calculate maternal photoplesthograph (mPPG) data, applying the mPPG to the photosignal data to remove the maternal photosignal component from the photosignal data, and applying the fECG to remaining photosignal data to calculate fetal photoplesthograph (fPPG) data.

An infant warming system can include a platform for supporting an infant, at least two chest electrodes configured to connect to and detect cardiac potentials from a chest of the infant, an ECG monitor configured to receive the cardiac potentials from the at least two chest electrodes, a pulse oximeter device configured to determine an SpOfor the infant, and a processor configured to determine one or more activation thresholds for the infant, wherein the one or more activation thresholds represent one or more target saturation levels for the infant. The processor can also compare the heart rate for the infant to a first heart rate threshold and compare the SpO2 for the infant to the one or more target saturation levels, adjust a display on a display device based on the comparisons, and generate a care instruction for a care stage based on the SpO2 of the infant.

Infant warming system having ECG monitor and method for providing resuscitation assistance

A multi-sensor patch for simultaneous abdominal monitoring of maternal and fetal physiological data includes a multi-layer flexible substrate with a center region and a plurality of electrode regions. A conductive layer of the flexile substrate provides an electrical connection between each of the plurality of electrode regions and the center region. A plurality of electrodes are formed into the flexible substrate. At least one mechanical motion sensor is connected to the multi-layer flexible substrate. A module unit is connected to the conductive layer at the center region. The module unit includes a controller configured to receive biopotential physiological data from the plurality of electrodes and mechanical sensor data from the at least one auxiliary sensor. The controller calculates at least fetal heart rate, maternal heart rate, and uterine activity from the biopotential physiological data and from the mechanical sensor data.

Various methods and systems are provided for a fabric cover including a plurality of integrated electrodes for measuring an electrocardiogram signal of a patient in direct contact with at least a subset of the plurality of integrate electrodes. As one example, a fabric cover for an infant incubator or warmer includes a plurality of electrodes spaced apart from one another within a measurement area of a surface of the fabric cover adapted to have direct contact with a patient, the plurality of electrodes including a topmost electrode extending across an entire width of the measurement area, a bottommost electrode extending across the entire width of the measurement area, and a set of electrodes arranged between the topmost electrode and bottommost electrode, in a direction perpendicular to the width, within the measurement area.

Methods and systems for obtaining an electrocardiogram signal of a patient via a non-adhering, direct contact electrode apparatus

A system for monitoring health during a water birth includes a health sensor configured to be coupled to a mother. The health sensor includes a first sensor configured to measure one or more health parameters of a mother, a fetus within the mother or both, a second sensor configured to generate a submerged signal representing whether the health sensor is at least partially submerged in water, and a transmitter configured to transmit communication signals representing data collected by the first sensor. One or more parameters of the communication signals change depending on whether the submerged signal represents that the health sensor is at least partially submerged.

An ultrasound system includes a single transducer. The single transducer includes a flexible substrate. The single transducer also includes an array of transducer elements disposed on the flexible substrate and configured to be disposed on an abdomen of a subject having one or more fetuses disposed within a single uterus and to acquire scan data. The ultrasound system also includes a processor coupled to the single transducer and configured to receive the scan data and to determine a respective fetal heart rate of each fetus of the one or more fetuses based on the scan data.

System and method for utilizing a single ultrasound imaging device to simultaneously measure a maternal heart rate and fetal heart rates of multiple fetuses

A method of controlling an infant care device includes identifying, via a location tracking system, a device location of the infant care device within a care facility by locating a device location tag on the infant care device, and also identifying any local clinician tags worn by a clinician within a predetermined area around the device location. The local clinician tags are compared to a list of authorized clinician tags to identify whether at least one local authorized clinician tag is within the predetermined area around the infant care device. User input is received at a user interface associated with the infant care device to modify operation of the infant care device. Operation of the infant care device is modified based on the user input only if at least one local authorized clinician tag is within the predetermined area around the infant care device at the time of receiving the user input.

Location-based user authorization for an infant care device

An infant warming system comprising a platform for supporting an infant, at least two chest electrodes configured to connect to and detect cardiac potentials from a chest of the infant, an ECG monitor configured to receive the cardiac potentials from the at least two chest electrodes and determine a heart rate based on the cardiac potentials, a pulse oximeter device configured to determine an SpOfor the infant, and a processor configured to compare the heart rate for the infant to a first heart rate threshold and compare the SpOfor the infant to a first SpOthreshold. The processor can also adjust a display of the heart rate and the SpOon a display device based on the comparisons and generate a first care instruction via a user interface based on the heart rate, the SpO, or a combination thereof.

A T-piece for controlling ventilation support to a patient includes a t-shaped body having a gas source connection port, an interface connection port, and a positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) control port. A PEEP adjuster cap is connected to the PEEP control port and has a bypass hole to allow gas to exit the T-piece and configured such that when the bypass hole is closed substantially all gas received at the gas source connection port is directed to the patient and when the bypass hole is open at least a portion of the gas received at the gas source connection port exits through the bypass hole to maintain PEEP to the patient. A bypass cover is automatically operated by an actuator circuit to close the bypass hole to enable delivery PIP to the patient and to open the bypass hole to effectuate PEEP delivery to the patient.

Ventilation system and method

A neonatal care system includes a platform for supporting an infant, a plurality of part tags each embedded in a part within the neonatal care device, and at least one part reader. Each of the plurality of part tags is configured to transmit a part identifier and the at least one part reader is configured to receive the part identifiers transmitted from the plurality of the part tags. A controller is configured to store at least one part identifier catalog, receive the part identifiers from the part reader, and compare the part identifiers generated by the plurality of part tags to the at least one part identifier catalog. If any of the received part identifiers does not match the at least one part identifier catalog, then an alert is generated.

Neonatal care system and method of tracking composition thereof

An infant care station is described herein that can include a heating component of a microenvironment of the infant care station, at least one temperature measuring device, and a processor. The processor can calculate a baseline temperature of the heating component using the at least one temperature measuring device and monitor the heating component using the at least one temperature measuring device to determine one or more operating characteristics. The processor can also detect, based at least in part on the baseline temperature, that the one or more operating characteristics exceed a predetermined threshold and generate a response that results in a correction of the temperature maintained by the heating component.

Systems and methods for controlling a heating component for an infant care station

A multi-sensor patch for simultaneous abdominal monitoring of maternal and fetal physiological data includes a multi-layer flexible substrate. The multi-layer flexible substrate includes a center region and a plurality of electrode regions. An electrode of the plurality of electrodes is located in each of the electrode regions. At least one auxiliary sensor which may be an optical sensor. A module unit is connected to the conductive layer at the center region. The module unit is configured to receive biopotential physiological data from the plurality of electrodes and photosignal data from the optical sensor. The module unit calculates at least fetal heart rate (fHR), maternal heart rate (mHR), and uterine activity (UA) from the biopotential physiological data and fHR, mHR, and SpO2 from the photosignal data.
