Through discrimination of the scattered signal polarization state, a lidar system measures a distance through semi-transparent media by the reception of single or multiple scattered signals from a scattering medium. Combined and overlapped single or multiple scattered light signals from the medium can be separated by exploiting varying polarization characteristics. This removes the traditional laser and detector pulse width limitations that determine the system's operational bandwidth, translating relative depth measurements into the conditions of two surface timing measurements and achieving sub-pulse width resolution.

Remote measurement of shallow depths in semi-transparent media

An underwater light including a programmable controller and a replaceable light-emitting diode (LED) printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) is provided. The light includes a controller PCBA in communication with the LED PCBA, and a connector for connecting the controller PCBA to the LED PCBA. An optically-transparent potting compound encapsulates the LED PCBA, and the LED PCBA can be safely replaced by removing a rear housing of the underwater light.

Underwater light having programmable controller and replaceable light-emitting diode (LED) assembly

An underwater light having a replaceable light-emitting diode (LED) module and cord assembly is provided. The underwater light includes a lens, a bezel, a screw, a cable attachment assembly, a mounting flange, a rear housing, a fastening assembly, an internal lens, a printed circuit board (PCB) including light-emitting diodes (LEDs) mounted thereon, a heat sink, and an electronics assembly. The assembly of the underwater light provides for the dissipation of heat away from the PCB thereby cooling the LEDs and electronic components mounted thereon. The electrically non-conductive nature of the exterior components of the underwater light permit the underwater light to be installed in any location in a pool or spa. Since the exterior of the underwater light is electrically non-conductive, no specific bonding or grounding of the underwater light is necessary.

Underwater light having a replaceable light-emitting diode (LED) module and cord assembly

A system and method for an accent lighting system is provided. The system includes a plurality of underwater luminaires each having a plurality of light emitting diodes, and a junction box controller housing a plurality of electrical components for generating electrical signals for controlling the plurality of underwater luminaries. The junction box controller can be mounted to an electrical conduit and a plurality of cables can connect the plurality of underwater luminaires with the junction box controller. An underwater luminaire can include a heat sink and a flexible circuit board having a plurality of light emitting diodes mounted on the heat sink. The flexible circuit board transfers heat from the light emitting diodes to the heat sink. The underwater luminaire can also include a wiring harness for connecting the underwater luminaire to a cable.

Accent lights with junction box controller

A light includes a body, a front housing secured to a front end of the body, a translating retainer rotatably engaged with the front housing, a slip ring positioned around the front housing and between the translating member and the front end of the body, a compressible ring positioned around the front housing and between the slip ring and the front end of the body, a lens mounted to the front housing, an electronic assembly, and a light emitting element in electrical communication with the electronic assembly and positioned within the lens. Rotation of the translating retainer in a first direction causes the translating retainer to drive the slip ring toward the front end of the body, compressing the compressible ring and causing the compressible ring to bulge outward to contact, and removably engage, an inner wall of a pipe or conduit that the light is positioned in.

Light with expanding compression member

A system and method for an accent lighting system is provided. The system includes a plurality of underwater luminaires each having a plurality of light emitting diodes, and a junction box controller housing a plurality of electrical components for generating electrical signals for controlling the plurality of underwater luminaries. The junction box controller can be mounted to an electrical conduit and a plurality of cables can connect the plurality of underwater luminaires with the junction box controller. An underwater luminaire can include a heat sink and a flexible circuit board having a plurality of light emitting diodes mounted on the heat sink. The flexible circuit board transfers heat from the light emitting diodes to the heat sink. The underwater luminaire can also include a wiring harness for connecting the underwater luminaire to a cable. The underwater luminaire can also include a housing having a lens positioned at one end, an end cap mounted to an opposite end of the housing. The housing and the end cap can form a waterproof enclosure for the heatsink, the flexible circuit board, the plurality of light emitting diodes, and the wiring harness.

An underwater light having a sealed polymer housing includes a rear housing component formed at least in part from a thermally conductive and electrically insulative material, an electronic assembly having at least one light-emitting element mounted thereto, the electronic assembly in thermal communication with the rear housing component, and a lens mounted to the rear housing component and forming a watertight seal therebetween, the lens and the rear housing component enclosing the electronic assembly. At least a portion of the rear housing component conducts heat away from the electronic assembly to cool the electronic assembly.

Underwater light having a sealed polymer housing and method of manufacture therefor

Disclosed is a method of determining depreciation of a lumen output of an LED. More particularly, disclosed is a method of determining depreciation of a lumen output of an LED comprising monitoring, by a processing device, an operating characteristic of an AC power source operatively coupled to the LED; determining, by the processing device, whether a lumen output the LED depreciated beyond a specified lumen value based on the monitoring; and causing, by the processing device, an indicator to provide notification to a user based on determining the lumen output of the LED depreciated beyond the specified lumen value.
