Embodiments provide a method for fabricating a three-dimensional (3D) object from a digital representation of the 3D object stored in a computer readable media, the method comprising relatively driving a nozzle with respect to a build platform, wherein the 3D object is being fabricated on the build platform and while relatively driving the nozzle with respect to the build platform, depositing, via the nozzle, printing material to fabricate a first sub-wall of the 3D object in a layer. The method further comprises while further relatively driving the nozzle with respect to the build platform, depositing, via the nozzle, printing material to fabricate a second sub-wall of the 3D object in the layer and adjacent to the first sub-wall. The second sub-wall is fabricated such that (i) the second sub-wall periodically contacts the first sub-wall and (ii) a void is periodically present between the second sub-wall and the first sub-wall.

Embodiments include an apparatus for fabricating a three-dimensional object from a digital representation of the object stored in a computer readable media, the apparatus comprising: a component having a surface on which the object is to be fabricated, wherein information is embedded within the component; a sensor configured to sense the information embedded within the component; a module configured to, based on the sensor sensing the information embedded within the component, determine one or both of (i) a characteristic of the component and (ii) a configuration parameter of the apparatus; and a print mechanism disposed above the surface of the component, wherein the print mechanism is configured to, based on the determined one or both of (i) the characteristic of the component and (ii) the configuration parameter of the apparatus, fabricate the object on the surface of the component.

Method and apparatus for calibrating a three dimensional (3D) printer

Embodiments include a method of fabricating a three-dimensional (3D) object using a 3D printing system, wherein the 3D printing system controls one or more parameters of the 3D printing system to fabricate the 3D object, the method comprising: sensing a characteristic of a component of the 3D printing system, wherein the characteristic of the component of the 3D printing system changes over time; and based on sensing a change in the characteristic of the component of the 3D printing system, calibrating a first parameter of the one or more parameters used to fabricate the 3D object.

Embodiments include an apparatus for fabricating a three-dimensional (3D) object from a digital representation of the 3D object stored in a computer readable media. The apparatus includes a build platform on which the 3D object is to be fabricated and a nozzle configured to deposit printing material on the build platform to fabricate the 3D object. The apparatus further includes a first drive mechanism configured to drive the nozzle over the build platform and a second drive mechanism configured to rotate the build platform.

The imager is configured to scan an image while the image acquisition subsystem moves with respect to the image forming apparatus and configured to provide electrical signals including information related to the scanned image. The source is configured to emanate electromagnetic radiation based on the electrical signals. The processing subsystem includes a receiving component configured to receive the electromagnetic radiation emanated from the source of the image acquisition subsystem. The image forming apparatus also includes a structure supporting both the image acquisition subsystem and the processing subsystem.

Methods, apparatuses, and systems that facilitate common feed path printing devices to discern between original media and blank media are described herein. The novel systems may include, among other things, a print and a scan mechanism having a common input path to receive a first and a second media, the first media being original media to be scanned by the scan mechanism, and the second media being blank media to be printed on by the print mechanism. The system may further include a divider and a first sensor. The divider being configured to provide to the common feed path the first and the second media by defining a first and a second input slot to locate the first and the second media, respectively, wherein the divider to provide the first and the second media to the common feed path via the first and second input slots. The first sensor may detect absence of the first media in the first input slot.

Discerning between original media and blank media in a common feed path printer device

A multi-function printer having a compact size and portable configuration while providing printing, scanning and copying functionalities is disclosed herein. The multi-function printer includes a printer assembly and a scanner assembly configured to cooperatively utilize the same pick and paper movement systems along a common feed or paper path to perform these printing, scanning and copying functions. Thus, the disclosed multi-function printer may require a less complex paper movement and control system which, in turn, reduces the printer's overall weight while increasing its flexibility and/or portability.
