A power tool having one or more sound damping members which reduce sound and/or vibration from one or more parts of a power tool. The sound damping member can reduce sound and/or vibration from static or dynamic parts of a power tool. The sound damping member can reduce noise and/or vibration from one or more rotating or moving parts of a power tool and its housing or internal structure. Methods, means, controls, systems and practices for reducing or eliminating undesired sound from a power tool are disclosed.

A cutting device including a stand and a saw supported by the stand. The saw includes a motor and a blade rotatably driven by the motor. A pair of rails is supported by the stand. A tray is configured to support an object to be cut on an upper surface and including a roller assembly on a lower surface. The tray is slidable along the pair of rails towards and away from the blade. At least one of the rails is disposed over a basin configured to hold water.

A handheld power tool having a detachable tool head is disclosed in which, depending on the type of tool head used, selection of reverse movement of the rotary assembly of the power tool can be prevented. Where reverse movement of the tool head is undesirable, such as for a saw blade, the tool head contains a contact plate that slides a plate member to a position to prevent selection of the reverse direction by the user. However, where reverse movement of a tool head is desired, such as for a drill head, the plate member remains in its original position such that forward and reverse directions can be selected by a user.

A power saw tool including a housing, a motor, and a reciprocating shaft. A blade clamp assembly is mounted to the reciprocating shaft and adapted for gripping a saw blade. The blade clamp assembly includes a main body defining a channel for engaging the saw blade. A latch arm is pivotally attached to the main body and rotatable about a pivot axis. A locking catch extends from the latch arm and retains the saw blade within the channel. A latch release extends from the latch arm. An actuator is provided to selectively engage the latch release and permit removal of the saw blade from the blade clamp assembly. The power saw tool may include a speed limiter housed within the handle grip to delimit rearward travel of the trigger switch, thereby restricting the speed of the motor. The power saw tool may also include a rotatable shoe assembly.

A jigsaw may include a housing, a control member, a shoe member and a keel. The housing contains a motor and include a handle. The control member is moveable relative to the housing between at least a first position that implements a curve-cutting mode and a second position that implements a straight-cutting mode. The shoe member is connected to the housing and includes a bottom surface facing away from the housing. The keel is operable in a deployed configuration in which the keel protrudes through the bottom surface of the shoe member and a stowed configuration in which the keel does not protrude through the bottom surface of the shoe member. Relative motion between the shoe and the keel allows the keel to be in the deployed configuration when the control member is in the second position and the stowed configuration when the control member is in the first position.

The present invention is directed toward a system for forming miter joints including a miter saw and an angle gauge. The miter saw includes a platform with a kerf slot and a pair of arcuate slots. Each arcuate slot includes an associated rail located on the underside of the platform. A fence is coupled to each of the rails such that the fence may be pivoted with respect to the platform. The angle measurement tool is a one-handed tool including spring loaded paddles that measure the angle between intersecting surfaces. The angle measurement tool connects to the miter saw to permit the transfer of the measured angle to the fences.
