A side slit of a core plate of a heat exchanger reaches a sealing surface. The core plate has a rib which is formed on a bottom plate across a protruding portion. The rib communicates to a cavity above the sealing surface. An end slit formed on an end wall of the core plate reaches the sealing surface. A first joining tab is formed between two end slits. The first joining tab is joined to a second joining tab on a reinforce plate. The side slit and the rib enable deformation of the core plate. The end slit enables deformation of the first joining tab in a tilting manner.

Heat exchanger

A heat exchanger having at least one of side plates embodying a polygonal aperture through the planar base thereof, located at a predetermined position, and at least two corresponding shear-apertures located at the interface between the planar base and a first wall and a second wall of the side plate, each adjacent to the base aperture, providing at least one flexing location to accommodate thermal expansion of the heat exchanger during thermal cycling.

Stamped thermal expansion relief feature for heat exchangers

A radiator tank for a radiator. The radiator tank includes a plurality of first reinforcement members spaced apart along a first sidewall. A plurality of second reinforcement members are spaced apart along a second sidewall. A plurality of third reinforcement members are spaced apart along an upper portion that extends from the first sidewall to the second sidewall. Both the first and the second reinforcement members are on one of an outer surface or an inner surface of the radiator tank. The third reinforcement members are on the other one of the outer surface or the inner surface. The first and the second reinforcement members terminate prior to reaching the upper portion, and the third reinforcement members terminate prior to reaching both the first sidewall and the second sidewall.
