According to one example, an electrical device is provided comprising an input configured to receive power from at least one power supply, an output configured to provide the power to at least one load, a first memory configured to store data temporarily, a second memory, the second memory being non-volatile memory, and at least one control device configured to acquire data indicative of at least one parameter of the power responsive to a sample condition being met, store the acquired data in the first memory, determine that a fault condition exists based on the acquired data, the fault condition being indicative of a fault of one or more electrical-device components, and store the acquired data in the second memory responsive to determining that the fault condition exists.

Systems and methods of measuring dynamic signals for power distribution units. In one embodiment, a power distribution unit (PDU) includes an analog to digital converter (ADC) including a plurality of channels, each channel corresponding to a respective outlet of a plurality of outlets of the PDU. The PDU further includes a microprocessor coupled to the ADC and configured to measure a scale of a signal output from a first channel of the ADC, compare the scale of the signal to a sensitivity threshold, and select, for a first outlet corresponding to the first channel, a reference voltage of a plurality of reference voltages for input to the ADC based on a result of comparing. Various embodiments allow using an ADC to measure low level outlet currents of less than around 300 mA in addition to high level currents such as around 20 A.

Dynamic sensitivity adjustment for ADC measurements

A system of managing power distribution units includes a master rack PDU and a plurality of child rack PDU's. The master rack PDU is coupled to a network and is configured to receive short-range wireless signals. The plurality of child rack PDU's are configured to transmit short-range wireless signals including data measurements. The master rack PDU receives the data measurements in the short-range wireless signals transmitted by the plurality of child rack PDU's and the master rack PDU transmits the data measurements to a computer over the network.
