A filter cartridge has a keyed end cap which is configured and shaped for unlocking an associated valve mechanism that comprises a latch device and a valve. In this manner, when the fuel filter cartridge is placed into a fuel filter housing having such a latch and valve mechanism, the fuel filter cartridge is operable therein to filter fluid and pass the fluid into a standpipe contained within the fuel filter housing. The fuel filter cartridge of this type generally includes pleated filter paper which is disposed between two opposed end caps. The keys may be provided along the bottom end cap.

A fluid filter includes a base plate, a canister, and filtering media contained in the canister for filtering fluid from an inlet port to an outlet port. Notches are formed into an outer periphery of the base plate. An annular bead of the canister side wall is partially formed into the notches to provide a torque locking mechanism between the base plate and the canister. The terminating lip portion of the canister is wrapped around the outer face of the base plate and formed into an annular trough to directly secure the base plate to the canister. The annular trough includes a diverging outer wall that provides a narrow contact interface between the terminating lip portion and the retention corner of the base plate to thereby reduce moment loads induced therebetween as a result of high fluid pressures in the filter.

Fluid filter

A filter assembly, filter element and methods are provided. The filter assembly includes a filter base in which a filter element is mounted. The filter element includes a bypass valve carried by the filter element that operates independent of and free of interaction with the filter base. Methods include providing an entirely new bypass valve for the filter assembly by inserting a filter element including a complete bypass valve into the filter base such that bypass valve structures of the filter base are rendered useless or superfluous.

A differential pressure indicator and method of configuring a differential pressure indicator is provided. The differential pressure indicator is configurable to provide open circuit or closed circuit logic and includes a housing, a pressure responsive element, a post, first, second and third electrical contacts and an electrical insulator from an insulative material. The electrical insulator separates the third electrical contact from either the first contact or the second contact to provide a desired type of logic. The differential pressure indicator may use substantially similar components to provide either open circuit or closed circuit logic or the components may be rearranged to provide either open circuit or closed circuit logic.

The set of internal threads ( ) defined by the stop member ( ) defines a second axis (A ), and the first (A ) and second (A ) axes are transversely offset.
