A balloon catheter including a catheter shaft and an inflatable balloon secured to a distal end region of the catheter shaft. The inflatable balloon has a generally conical shape in a fully inflated configuration having a proximal conical portion that tapers away from the central longitudinal axis in a distal direction from a proximal waist of the balloon and a distal conical portion that tapers toward the central longitudinal axis in a distal direction toward a distal waist of the balloon, with a radially outermost extent of the balloon located between the proximal conical portion and the distal conical portion. The proximal conical portion, the distal conical portion and/or the radially outermost extent of the balloon has an elliptical cross-section taken in a plane perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis of the catheter shaft.

Subintimal re-entry balloon catheter

A medical device assembly for incising a stenosis in a blood vessel which includes an incising device, a tubular sheath, and a catheter having an inflatable balloon mounted thereon. The incising device includes a self-expanding scaffold having a plurality of cutting elements projecting radially outward therefrom, and an elongate member extending proximally from the self-expanding scaffold to be manipulated by a user. The self-expanding scaffold is positionable in the lumen of the sheath in a contracted configuration and deployed out of the lumen of the sheath to permit the self-expanding scaffold to expand to an expanded configuration. The inflatable balloon of the catheter is configured to be advanced distally into an interior of the self-expanding scaffold through a proximal opening of the self-expanding scaffold, and inflation of the inflatable balloon urges the cutting elements radially outward to incise a stenosis.

Methods, devices, and systems for extracting vessel occluding material are provided. An embodiment of a vessel occluding material extractor includes a host structure, a plurality of expandable members, a slide mechanism, and a circumferential member. The host structure has an elongate axis. The expandable members are connected to the host structure arrayed radially around the elongate axis. The slide mechanism is connected to the expandable members and adjacent the host structure, and is slidable in the direction of the elongate axis. The circumferential member is connected to the expandable members between the connection of the slide mechanism and the host structure to the expandable members.

Apparatus and method for treating medical implants are provided. The apparatus may include a vessel having a treatment chamber with an inside surface, an outside surface, an entrance, a plurality of fluid passages passing from the outside surface to the inside surface, and a compressible fluid supply line coupled to at least one of the fluid passages. In this embodiment, passages may be positioned and sized to create a buffer zone of compressible fluids between the inside surface of the treatment chamber and a medical implant placed therein. The method may include placing a first medical implant into a treatment chamber having inside surfaces, retarding the first medical implant from contacting the inside surfaces of the treatment chamber by injecting compressible fluid into the treatment chamber, injecting a therapeutic into the treatment chamber, and removing the first medical implant.

Anchoring mechanisms for limiting travel of an intravascular device along an elongated member such as a guidewire or guide catheter are disclosed. The anchoring mechanism may include a leaf spring that can be actuated between an unlocked position and a locked position. In the unlocked position, the leaf spring is slidably and rotationally disposed along the elongated member. In the locked position, the leaf spring is releasably secured to the elongated member, preventing movement thereon. The leaf spring can be attached directly to the intravascular device, or can be formed as a separate member and used as a stopper mechanism to limit travel of the intravascular device along the elongated member.
