A test apparatus includes a linear motion generator, an airbag, a plate, a platform, an anthropomorphic test device, and a crushable member. The airbag is spaced from the linear motion generator. The plate is moveable by the linear motion generator toward the airbag, and the platform is fixed relative to the plate. The anthropomorphic test device is adjacent the airbag and includes an end coupled to the platform. The crushable member is disposed between the plate and the platform, and the crushable member is deformable by the plate. During operation of the test apparatus, the linear motion generator moves the plate into the crushable member to slow movement of the anthropomorphic device toward the airbag. The crushable member crushes to simulate the forces on the anthropomorphic test device from a vehicle side impact.

A modular electrical wiring systems with pluggable lighting is disclosed including thin variable length, lighted wands, extension cables, accessory options, switching options, and a source of supply cable. Preferred power is economical multi-wire branch circuit with related switching options. One male connector per device locks out undesirable multiple power supply in every component. Lighted wands offer rigid proportional length bodies and flexible, semi-fixed length tolerance adjusting cables to enable proper light dispersement and branching in several directions. Connectors at opposite ends of each wand, and related extension cables, enable close or distant lights to be energized. The female connector version also accepts almost any desired combination of these circuit(s) choosing devices: receptacles, ballasts, other lighting/accessories, and switching devices; all as, and where the user chooses.

Modular lighting system

A modular electrical wiring system incorporates an improved rotating electrical connector which is designed to pass through a small decorator face opening. This opening may be in either or both of small cover or in an elongated raceway cover. The connector may then be twisted and pulled back flush with and filling the entire opening. The connector is attached to a semi-rigid conduit for supplying power to the modular electrical wiring system and may be installed or removed without the need for an electrician. The connector allows one-hundred and eight degrees of pivotal motion between itself and the semi-rigid conduit yet does not expose any of the conductors during such pivotal motion. The user may thus make minor adjustments in the location of attached equipment without the aid of an electrician nor the interruption of power.

Rotating electrical connector

An improved electrical distribution system with two, four wire, multiwire branch circuits providing two sets of single phase office power circuits in exactly two types of duplex outlets. In each duplex outlet, receptacles are split to offer power from different phases. Each type of duplex has its own neutral and ground wires. These two duplexes control neutral balance and eliminate the previous need for oversized neutrals. Therefore, exactly two types of duplexes may be permanently prewired to a modular symmetrical channel providing user access to all four available circuits. The two multiwire branch circuits may be shielded to isolate clean computer power in one of the two duplex types.

Electrical power distribution system

A method for fabricating an electrical energy distribution system as a track having a multitude of parallel insulating strips and interspersed conductor bars with gaps between adjacent conductor bars to receive conductive blades of outlets or jumper cables for receiving power from the system as well as fixedly supporting a set of blades for power input to the system. During fabrication, the elongated insulating strips and conductor bars are passed through at least two spaced apart transverse multi-apertured separators so that the conductor bars define therebetween blade receiving gaps. As thus fabricated, the system is modular and may be assembled without the need of tools or specially trained electricians.

An electrical connector for a multiconductor cable is disclosed where the connector is formed at one end of a conductor disposed in a flexible metal conduit by providing the conductor with a terminal at the one end and placing at least a portion of the terminal along with portions of the conductor and the flexible metal conduit in a connector forming cavity to thereafter form insulating material about the terminal, conductor and flexible metal conduit portions in the cavity. By this technique the insulating material may be made to conform to the exterior of the flexible metal conduit portion and also to conform to a section of the interior of that conduit along a length extending beyond the cavity thereby providing an extremely rugged and serviceable connector arrangement. The terminal may be simply crimped about the conductor near the end thereof and somewhat beyond the end of the flexible metal conduit and the insulating material formed by an injection molding technique.
