A chain binder to connect and apply tension to chains, straps, or the like used to secure cargo on any type of platform or vehicle. The chain binder includes a lever body; a first side portion; a second side portion; and gears that effectuate two modes of operation. Namely, a power driven mode of operation or a manual lever mode of operation. Rotations of the gears causes hooks or connectors, via movement of eye-bolts, toward each other to place tension in the chains or strap. Opposite rotations of the gears causes hooks or connectors, via movement of eye-bolts, away from each other to relax the chains or strap. If components are damages during use, they may be replaced on an as-needed basis to reduce operational cost of the chain binder since the entire binder does not need replaced when only one component fails or is damaged.

Method and apparatus for utilizing a repairable chain binder

A torque load binder for changing tension in a chain or strap securing a load to a vehicle or support surface. The load binder includes a housing with an internal gear mechanism and a connector mechanism operatively engaged with the gear mechanism and extending outwardly from the housing. A high speed first driveshaft and a lower speed second driveshaft on the load binder are selectively individually actuated to effect movement between first and second end linkages of the connector mechanism. The first driveshaft effects movement between the first and second end linkages at a first speed and the second driveshaft effects movement between the end linkages at a lower second speed. Rotation of either of the first or second driveshafts actuates the connector mechanism, changing the distance between the first and second end linkages, and thereby changing the tension in the tie-down.

Method of raising or lowering a landing gear

An apparatus to lower or raise landing gear on a trailer or semi-truck comprising a tool having a center body with a coupling device and a power coupling that is selectively engageable with a rotatable projection on the landing gear. The power coupling is operatively engaged with a worm gear within the center body and thereby with the coupling device. A powered drill is engaged with the power coupling and is actuated to rotate the power coupling in a first direction or in a second direction. The power coupling rotates the worm gear, which rotates the coupling device and thereby the projection on the landing gear. Rotation of the projection in one direction lowers the landing gear. Rotation of the projection in the opposite direction raises the landing gear. The user selects to raise or lower the landing gear simply by causing the drill chuck to rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise.

Method and apparatus for operating trailer jacks

A chain binder to connect and apply tension to chains used to secure cargo on a truck bed. The chain binder includes a center body; a first side assembly; a second side assembly; and a power coupling provided on the center body. The first side assembly engages a first chain section and the second side assembly engages a second chain section. The power coupling couples a gear mechanism in the center body to an external power source. Operation of the power coupling moves the first and second side assemblies toward each other when operated in a first direction and moves the first and second side assemblies away from each other when operated in a second direction. As the first and second side assemblies move toward each other, tension in the chains increases and as the side assemblies move away from each other tension in the chain decreases.

Chain binder and method of operation

A insulated cooler includes a thermally insulated storage compartment and a water storage chamber mounted thereon and preferably formed integrally therewith. A water spout communicates with the water storage chamber to permit water to flow from the storage chamber for washing hands and the like when in areas without running water. A soap dispenser is mounted on the cooler to facilitate the washing process. An external carrier may also be mounted on the cooler for carrying various items which do not need to be stored within the insulated storage compartment.
