A watercraft system is provided. The watercraft system includes a lifting body designed to generate dynamic lift during watercraft operation. The lifting body is shaped with a twist from the center to the lateral edges and with a chord and a fore-aft cross-section that both decrease from a center of the lifting body to lateral tips of the lifting body.

A boat hull has an aft swept ventilated area in at least a part of its bottom planing surface. An aft swept water flow interrupter is positioned to project downwardly from the hull forward of the ventilated area. The aft swept flow interrupter has two generally angularly related legs or sections defining a 30&#xb0; to 70&#xb0; included angle, increase lift on the hull, reduces wetted surface area and improves the turning characteristics of the hull.

A boat hull has at least one generally transverse ventilation step formed in at least a part of its bottom planing surface open to the water. The step has a forward edge portion and a water flow interrupter is positioned to project downwardly from the hull forward of the forward edge of the step.

An energy conversion system includes a first mechanical system for converting reciprocating motion to rotary motion, a second system formed of belts and pulleys connected to said first system and driven by said rotary motion to lift a weight in response to said rotary motion from a first position to a second position and allow the weight to return to said first position under the influence of gravity. A rotary electrical is driven by the second system through a transmission means connected to the second system to create electricity only while the weight is returning from its second to its first position.

A boat hull has at least one rocker chute formed therein open to the water forward of the hull's transom. The chute has a leading edge forward of the transom and an interceptor plate projects downwardly from the hull at said leading edge.

A watercraft hull has at least one bent entrapment tunnel with an aft portion whose tunnel ceiling is at a higher elevation than portions of the tunnel ceiling immediately in front of it to provide a negative angle of attack with the free surface at design planing speeds.

A boat hull has at least one ventilating propulsion tunnel formed therein open to the water forward of the hull's transom and adapted to contain a propeller of the propulsion system. A watercraft having a hull, a fore and aft longitudinal axis and a bow includes a three dimensional low drag submerged lifting body secured to the bow below the design waterline of the hull.

Low drag underwater submerged lifting bodies which can be used as underwater displacement portions of a vessel whose main hull is at sea level are asymmetrical and have improved lift to drag ratios. The lifting bodies have outer surfaces whose shapes are defined in plan and elevation by generally parabolic curves which are different on opposite sides of the lifting bodies.

Low drag underwater submerged displacement hulls which can be used as independent vessels or as underwater displacement hull portions of a vessel whose main hull is at sea level are disclosed which have improved lift to drag ratios. The disclosed vessels have outer surfaces whose shapes are defined in plan and elevation by generally parabolic curves.

A high speed ship is disclosed which includes a hull structure having a bow portion and a stern portion with the hull being normally supported above the surface of the water when in operation. A forward strut depend from the bow portion of the hull structure and is subtended by a first transverse displacement foil. A set of midship dual struts depend from the hull structure aft of the forward strut; the aft dual struts are subtended by a second transverse displacement foil extending laterally between and connected to each of said struts. The second transverse displacement foil has a beam equal to or greater than its length and provides 70% or more of the major buoyancy for the ship during operation to maintain the hull above the surface of the water during operation. The forward foil provides less than 30% of the buoyancy of the vessel and has a beam less than the spacing between the aft struts.

A high speed ship is disclosed which includes a hull structure having a bow portion and a stern portion with the hull being normally supported above the surface of the water when in operation. A forward strut depends from the bow portion of the hull structure and is subtended by a first transverse displacement foil. A pair of midship struts depend from the hull structure aft of the forward strut; the aft struts are subtended by a second transverse displacement foil extending laterally between and connected to each of said struts. The second transverse displacement foil has a beam equal to or greater than its length and provides 70% or more of the major buoyancy for the ship during operation to maintain the hull above the surface of the water during operation. The forward foil provides less than 30% of the buoyancy of the vessel and has a beam less than the spacing between the aft struts.
