Tracked vehicle wheel

A system and method of increasing the traction and mobility of a tandem axled vehicle by disposing an endless trackaround the vehicle tiresand using a tensioning deviceto impart a force on the endless trackto maintain an optimal track tension. The tensioning devicemay impart a constant force, a force within a set range, or a variable force controlled by a processoron the endless track. The processormonitors vehicle parameters to determine if endless track slipping is occurring. The slip-control processorsends signals to the tension deviceto increase endless track tension when a track slip condition is sensed, and sends signals to decrease endless track tension when slipping is not occurring, thereby allowing for greater suspension movement and improving overall vehicle mobility.

Track over tire system and method

A mine roller assembly for a mine roller is provided for detonating mines located in or on an underlying ground surface. A bracket is adapted for attachment to a mine roller system frame. An arm is pivotally connected to the bracket. A spring and damper system extends between the bracket and the arm. A wheel assembly is rotatably connected to the arm and is configured to interact with the underlying surface.

Mine roller neutralization system

Lightweight wear ring

A vibratory countermine system and method associated with a propulsion means. The system is comprised of a ground-contacting percussion system assembly that is mounted to the front of the propulsion means. Also, a vibratory subassembly is mounted inside the ground-contacting percussion assembly for inducing vibrations in the ground. The ground-contacting percussion system is in contact with the ground ahead of the propulsion means. It transmits the vibrations, associated forces, and pressure waves below or ahead of the countermine system through the ground, thereby inducing the detonation of land mines.

Vibratory countermine system and method

A hollow-shell road wheel for tracked vehicles includes a generally triangular, outer circumferential cavity formed by an outer rim and two wall members that extend radially inward at angles to a generally planar flange at approximately the mid-radius point of the hollow-shell road wheel. A series of hollow-shell road wheels assembled in a back-to-back configuration support the tracked-vehicle and act as guides for the track of the tracked-vehicle.
