A canopy for an aircraft includes a transparent cover, and a severance cord coupled to the transparent cover. The severance cord includes a fragmenting pattern including a plurality of outer perimeter segments that define an outer perimeter of the fragmenting pattern, and a plurality of inner fragmenting segments that are inside the outer perimeter. The fragmenting pattern is configured to break the transparent cover into numerous fragments when the severance cord is detonated.

The system includes a first display operable to display at least one of flight mission data or aircraft systems monitoring data, and a second display operable to control a plurality of display options of the first display. A method and apparatus for inspecting transparent materials. An optical inspection apparatus comprises a prism, a mirror, and a light source. The prism has a first end, a first side, and a second side. The first side is opposite the second side, the first end is located between the first side and the second side, the first end has an angled surface, and the prism is capable of bending light. The first side is around parallel to the second side. The mirror is on the angled surface. The mirror is capable of redirecting light entering the prism on the first side along a directed line of sight to the second side along a line of sight to a viewer. The light source is attached to another surface on the first end. The light source is capable of transmitting light through the prism along the directed line of sight.

Illuminated optical inspection prism apparatus

The present invention is directed toward clamping apparatus and methods for holding an item to an electrically conductive structure. In one embodiment, the clamp includes a strap, a fastener, a cushion, and a conductive material. The strap provides the structural strength for holding the item. The fastener is coupled to the strap for securing the strap to the structure. The cushion is disposed within the strap to at least partially isolate the item from shock and vibration transmitted through the strap. The conductive material is held by the cushioning material at least at a portion of the interior surface of the cushioning material. The conductive material is electrically coupled to the strap.

An apparatus and method for latching a canopy to a vehicle, such as an aircraft, that avoids plastic creep and crazing due to concentrated loads is provided. The apparatus includes first attachment components that are at least partially embedded within an injection-molded canopy and second attachment components that are connected to the canopy rail for attaching to the one or more first attachment components and thereby attaching the canopy to the canopy rail.

Attachment apparatus for injection-molded frameless canopies

A method and system for attaching a canopy to a vehicle, such as an aircraft, is provided. The system includes first and second sections. The first section attaches to the second section with a portion of the canopy being secured between the attached first and second sections. The canopy is molded to conform with the secured first and second sections. In one embodiment, the canopy is molded to include one or more fastener receiving holes with or without bushings. In another embodiment, the first or second sections include one or more channels for receiving an inflatable bladder. The first or second sections are configured to be received by the vehicle.
