A disposable patient interface includes a reusable sensor that removably mounts within a shoe of the disposable patient interface when at least one protrusion on opposite ends of the sensor removably lock with corresponding at least one aperture on opposite portions of the shoe. The patient interface includes a compliant structure which conforms to a patient's body upon placement thereon without causing wrinkles in the compliant structure so as to maximize adhesion of the compliant structure against skin on the patient's body when the compliant structure is conformed to muscle underlying skin on the patient's body.

Patient interface for reusable optical sensor

A centralized patient monitoring system includes a central station which receives patient information from bedside monitors. The patient information is presented on a video display screen and may include patient demographic information, physiological parameters and a waveform. The display screen is divided into sectors, with each sector containing information for one patient. When an alarm condition occurs at one of the bedside monitors, the alarm condition is transmitted to the central station and is displayed in the corresponding sector of the video display screen. In addition, the alarm condition is highlighted by changing the background in the alarming sector from its normal color, typically black, to a neutral color such as blue, which is easily distinguishable from the normal color and which does not obscure the patient information being displayed. The background of the sector is changed back to the normal color when the alarm is acknowledged by a user. The highlighted background is easily visible from a distance and provides a clear indication of unacknowledged alarms without obscuring other patient information.

Apparatus is provided for forming a foreign language file from a native language file so that the display for a given equipment can be rendered in the foreign language rather than the native language. The apparatus is comprised of a native language file containing instructions for the format of the display, words to be translated, and contextual information related to the latter words, a translation tool for reading the native language file and forming an image of the native words to be translated, the size and shape of the space allotted to them and a blank space into which equivalent foreign words can be inserted, means for inserting the foreign words, and means for storing in a file the foreign words and the instructions for the format to be used.
