An information handling system includes a processor and a memory. The processor receives a set of validation items to be validated for each of a plurality of platforms of a portfolio of platforms. The processor further determines that a first set of validation items for a first platform includes a first validation item and that a second set of validation items for a second platform includes a second validation item. The processor compares the first validation item with the second validation item to determine if the first and second validation items are duplicate validation items. When the first and second validations are duplicate validation items, the processor maintains the first set of validation items to include the first validation item, and modifies the second set of validation items to exclude the second validation item.

Self-calibrating transmission line resonator oscillating driver apparatus

A voltage regulator includes a regulator output and an output capacitor and a variable-conductivity device in series connection between the regulator output and a voltage reference. The variable-conductivity device is configured to have an initial conductivity. A current then is provided at the regulator output in response to a power-on event. A conductivity of the variable-conductivity device is gradually increased from the initial conductivity in response to the current at the regulator output. In another implementation, a voltage regulator includes a regulator output coupled to a voltage rail to provide a current. The voltage regulator includes a capacitive circuit including an output capacitor and a variable-conductivity device coupled in series between the regulator output and a voltage reference. The voltage regulator includes an adjustment circuit configured to gradually increase a conductivity of the variable-conductivity device in response to an application of the current at the regulator output.

Device and method for rapid voltage ramp-up to regulator target voltage

A data processing system having mismatched impedance components and method of use is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes exciting a printed circuit board circuit having mismatched impedance printed circuit board components. Measuring at least one impedance of the circuit with a time domain reflectometer. In response to the measured at least one impedance of the circuit, adjusting at least one printed circuit board circuit element.

Data processing systems having mismatched impedance components

A limiting circuit for controlling overshoot in a charge current in a battery recharging system includes a current amplifier receiving input indicative of charge current in a rechargeable battery circuit and generating a current error signal, a voltage amplifier receiving input indicative of charge voltage in the rechargeable battery circuit and generating a voltage error signal, and a power amplifier receiving a first signal indicative of power in a switching voltage regulator and a second power signal indicative of power in the rechargeable battery circuit, and generating a power error signal. The limiting circuit compares the voltage error signal, the current error signal, and the power error signal to determine the error signal having the greatest value, and generates an input signal to a pulse width modulation comparator. The limiting circuit also includes an internal current source, a first transistor coupled to the current amplifier, a second transistor coupled to the voltage amplifier; and a third transistor coupled to the power amplifier. The first transistor, the second transistor, and the third transistor are coupled to the internal current source to determine the error signal having the greatest value. To prevent reverse current flow in the switching voltage regulator, a low current comparator receives a signal indicative of the current flowing in the switching voltage regulator, and generates an output signal. A transistor receives the output signal from the low current comparator, and generates a signal to maintain the current flowing in the switching regulator circuit above a threshold value.

Surge suppression for current limiting circuits

A comparison circuit for comparing the desired voltage levels of electronic components and for disabling the supply of power to those components if the desired voltage levels are not equivalent. The comparison circuit receives the desired voltage level indication signals and provides a signal indicating whether the desired voltage levels are equivalent. If the desired voltage levels are not equivalent, the comparison circuit provides a signal indicating non equivalency to a power supply, wherein the power supply is disabled from supplying power so as not to damage the computer components from receiving power at a non allowable voltage level. The comparison circuit also provides an output signal indicative of an equivalent voltage level to the desired voltage levels if the desired voltage levels are equivalent. A power supply converter supplies power to the components at a voltage level as indicated by the output signal. The comparison circuit can be implemented in a computer system such as a multiprocessor computer system where each processor module provides a desired voltage level indication signal to the comparison circuit.

Electronic component desired voltage level comparison

An apparatus and method for integrating high-speed DRAM in a computer system including guard bands on either side of each data signal path between a memory module and a memory controller on a circuit board. The data signal paths are routed to avoid intermediate contacts, such as perforations in the circuit board for connector pins, while maintaining a target impedance level within a specified tolerance. A connector between the memory module and the memory controller includes contacts that are arranged so that at least every other contact is assigned to a non-data signal. The routing located between the non-data signal pins are assigned to a data signal. Non-data signal paths on the circuit board are routed through the contacts on either side of each data signal path, thereby forming guard bands on either side of the data signal path. An air gap is also positioned on either side of the data signal path.

Maintaining signal guard bands when routing through a field of obstacles

In a computer system, an apparatus including a power supply system having a voltage regulator and a power supply for supplying an unregulated voltage to the voltage regulator. A memory connector is mounted on the motherboard. The memory connectors is configured to receive a memory module. A memory controller is mounted on the motherboard. A riser card having an edge portion configured to be received by the memory module is removably inserted into the memory connector. A riser card interface is coupled from the riser card to the power supply system and memory switch for enabling an interface-dependent voltage to be established by the voltage regulator and supplied to the memory controller. The interface-dependent voltage is supplied to the riser card through the memory connector and is maintained at a level whereby the memory connector is subjected to an electrical current less than a maximum prescribed current. A voltage modifying device is mounted on the riser card. The voltage modifying device is coupled to the interface-dependent voltage and is coupled to supply a modified voltage to the memory module. A voltage switch is coupled to the voltage modifying device and to the memory controller for enabling the modified voltage to be supplied through the voltage switch to the memory controller.
