The brokering may include constructing a plurality of publisher-subscriber connections between the devices and a gateway, and in response to receiving a plurality of publish packets at the gateway, relaying the publish packets from the gateway via the connection associated with a topic identified therein.

A method for end-to-end event flows includes storing a file associated with a source event at a source storage location in a source edge device, uploading the file to a cloud device, storing the file at a cloud storage location, generating a cloud event by changing a file path referenced in the source event to point to the cloud storage location of the file, and transferring the cloud event to the cloud device. The method includes transferring the cloud event to a destination edge device, downloading the file to the destination edge device, generating a destination event by changing the file path referenced in the cloud event to point to a destination storage location of the file, publishing an availability of the file in the destination edge device to multiple destination subscribers, and transferring the file from the destination storage location to one or more destination subscribers.

End-to-end event flows that contain file locations

A vehicular communication controller includes a microcontroller (MCU) located within a vehicle to generate, by a software component, a find service request to discover an offered service from one or more systems on a chip (SoC). The MCU may generate a service message packet that includes the find service request inserted into a payload of the find service message packet where the payload is bound to an automotive/embedded communication protocol. Using unicast or multicast, the find service message packet may be sent to one or more SoC receiving devices. The SoC receiving devices may deserialize the header and payload of the find service message packet to retrieve the find service request and generate a service directory message based on service metadata and publish a cloud event including a solicited response that is sent back to the software component.

Secure method and apparatus for mixed criticality services discovery in a vehicle

A vehicular communication controller includes a microcontroller (MCU) located within a vehicle to publish a newly defined protocol data unit (PDU) including a header and a payload portion to a destination device. The destination device may utilize a first protocol or a second protocol. If the destination device utilizes the first protocol that includes an automotive/embedded communication protocol then the MCU serializes the payload portion of the PDU and binds the PDU to the first protocol. The destination device may then receive the PDU using the first protocol, deserialize the payload portion, and remove the header leaving the payload portion unchanged and recreate, based on the deserialized payload portion, the PDU.

Method and apparatus for embedded in-vehicle device-to-device cloud communications optimization

A method for voice recognition (VR)-based task allocation and hotword detection function control for within a wireless network having a hands-free (HF) node, e.g., a motor vehicle or telematics unit thereof, and an audio gateway (AG) node such as a wireless device, includes detecting, via a first wireless chipset of the HF node, a second wireless chipset of the AG node. The wireless chipsets include respective VR engines responsive to a corresponding hotword. The method includes establishing a Bluetooth or other wireless connection between the wireless chipsets in response to detecting the second wireless chipset. The method may include automatically transmitting a disable command signal to the second wireless chipset, via the first wireless chipset, to thereby disable a hotword detection function of the second wireless chipset. The method may be recorded on a computer readable medium as instructions executable by a processor.

Method and apparatus for intelligent wireless protocol optimization

A method for use aboard a motor vehicle or other mobile system having a multi-core communication chipset includes scanning a radio frequency spectrum to identify candidate access points (APs) operating in a frequency band of the communication chipset, e.g., 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The method includes selecting one of the candidate APs as a first AP for connection to a primary station of the chipset. In response to a secondary station (STA-2) of the chipset being connected to an external AP on the same frequency band as the first AP, the method includes automatically disconnecting the secondary station (STA-2), then connecting the first AP to the primary station. Another candidate AP is connected to the secondary station as a second AP. The method may include simultaneously communicating with the first and second APs via the primary and secondary stations, respectively.

A system for transferring a frame within an Ethernet network of a vehicle. The system includes an Ethernet switch, first and second feature modules and a NAM. The Ethernet switch includes first and second ports connected respectively to the first and second feature modules. The NAM: receives a priority request message from the second feature module; generates a priority response message indicating information for the second feature module to set a priority level of a frame; and transmits the priority response message to the second feature module. The Ethernet switch: receives the frame from the second feature module at the first port, where the frame has a first bit indicative of the priority level and a second bit indicative of a port of the first feature module; and forwards the frame, based on the first and second bits, to a corresponding one of the queues having the priority level and for transmission to the port of the first feature module.

System and method to select and operate a mobile device through a telematics unit

The subject system allows a source device providing a content stream over a network connection to a sink device to adaptively bypass a transcoding portion of a content processing pipeline when the original content stream, e.g. the non-transcoded content stream, can be decoded by the sink device and/or when no actions that utilize transcoding have been requested for the content stream. The source device may power down the transcoding portion of the content processing pipeline when the transcoding portion is not in use. When an action that utilizes transcoding is requested, and the transcoding portion of the pipeline is being bypassed, the source device may power on the transcoding portion and adaptively modify the pipeline to pass the content stream through the transcoding portion. The source device may provide configuration messages to the sink device when the pipeline is modified to provide information for decoding the transcoded content stream.

Adaptive transcoding bypass system

A Bluetooth transceiver module is configured to pair with a mobile electronic device that is configured to communicate with a cellular network. A hands-free module is configured to, while the mobile electronic device is paired, selectively generate attention commands for transmission to the mobile electronic device, the attention commands including: standard attention commands that are defined by a Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile (HFP) specification; and non-standard attention commands that are not defined by the Bluetooth HFP specification. The Bluetooth transceiver module is further configured to: transmit the attention commands to the mobile electronic device; from the mobile electronic device, receive: first responses to standard attention commands, respectively; and second responses to non-standard attention commands; and, in response to receipt of one of the second responses to a non-standard attention command that is not defined by the Bluetooth HFP specification, pass the one of the second responses to the hands-free module.

The subject system allows electronic devices in an infrastructure network to discover direct peer-to-peer services, such as screencasting, access to peripheral devices, etc., that can be provided over the infrastructure network. Since the electronic devices already have a layer two (link layer) connection with each other over the infrastructure network, pre-association device and/or service discovery protocols, such as those provided by Wi-Fi Direct and the like, are not available to the electronic devices. Thus, the subject system provides a post-association mechanism that allows the electronic devices to query, advertise, discover, and access direct peer-to-peer services over the infrastructure network. Furthermore, the subject system extends access of the direct peer-to-peer services to wired networks, such as Ethernet networks, Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) networks, powerline networks, and the like.
