In one such process, activated carbon with a median particle size of less than or equal to about 30 &#x3bc;m, optionally a macro-mesoporous:microporous ratio about 0.9 or higher and optionally a BET per Total Volume of equal to or less than about 1600 m^2/g, has been found to remove undesirable contaminants from oral care dentifrice components, such as alkyl phosphate surfactant, alkyl phosphate ethoxylated surfactant, lauryl sulfate surfactant, betaine surfactants, antibacterial agents, cetyl pyridinium chloride, metal salts, or phytic acid.
