An original equipment manufacturer (OEM) human-machine interface (HMI) device operation of a non-OEM handheld mobile device is provided. A non-OEM handheld mobile device can be coupled with a vehicle network of a vehicle. The vehicle can include a head unit with a display. An OEM HMI can be presented on a display of the non-OEM handheld mobile device. Thus, the non-OEM handheld mobile device provides functionality associated with the head unit and/or functionality not associated with the vehicle. Responsive to receiving an input on the OEM HMI presented on the non-OEM handheld mobile device, a setting or control of a vehicle device can be caused to be adjusted. Alternatively or in addition, responsive to receiving an input on a vehicle OEM HMI, a setting or control of the non-OEM handheld mobile device can be caused to be adjusted.

A method for identifying a location of a rideshare requestor to a rideshare vehicle includes receiving a request to locate the rideshare requestor, determining a first location of the rideshare requestor, determining a second location of the rideshare requestor, determining whether the first location is within a threshold distance of the second location, and, in response to the first location being within the threshold distance of the second location, identifying a first immobile vehicle from one or more immobile vehicles within a preset distance from the first location, and transmitting a signal to the first immobile vehicle to cause the first immobile vehicle to indicate the first location of the rideshare requestor to the rideshare vehicle.

Methods and systems for using parked vehicles to notify rideshare drivers of passenger pickup locations

A method and device for providing original equipment manufacturer (OEM) human-machine interface (HMI) device operation of a non-OEM handheld mobile device is provided. The method and/or device operate to process an access request received via a vehicle network, and transmits, in response to the access request, a HMI configuration request that corresponds to the OEM HMI device. The method and/or device receive, in response to the HMI configuration request, a HMI mapping assignment that corresponds with the OEM HMI device, and applies the HMI mapping assignment to OEM HMI device data to produce non-OEM HMI data, in which the OEM HMI device data being operable to manipulate at least one application function of the non-OEM handheld mobile device.

A method and device for selectively limiting a non-vehicle user input source of a non-OEM handheld mobile device are disclosed. Upon sensing a docking of the non-OEM handheld mobile device with a vehicle network, and determines a vehicle state level based on vehicle sensor data. When the vehicle state level indicates an increase in the likelihood of operator distraction, a touch block command for the non-OEM handheld mobile device is retrieved and transmitted via the vehicle network. The touch block command operates to block a non-vehicle user input source of the non-OEM handheld mobile device.
