A noise cancelling headset includes an earpiece, the earpiece including a feedback microphone, a feed-forward microphone, and an output driver. A first feedback filter receives an input from at least the first feedback microphone and produces a first filtered feedback signal. A first feed-forward filter receives an input from at least the first feed-forward microphone and produces a first filtered feed-forward signal. A first summer combines the first filtered feedback signal and the first filtered feed-forward signal and produces a first output signal. An output interface provides the first output signal as an output from the headset.

Voice sensing using multiple microphones

A method and system for a noise cancellation comprises an amplifier in communication with the three or more speakers disposed in an area. A system controller produces a driver signal for each of the speakers in response to a signal from at least one microphone detecting sound in the area and communicates the driver signals to the amplifier. The amplifier drives each speaker with the driver signal produced for that speaker. In response to the driver signals, the speakers emit sound that combined produces a substantially uniform sound pressure field for a particular zone within the area. The substantially uniform sound pressure field produced by the speakers has a magnitude and phase adapted to attenuate a noise field in the area corresponding to the sound detected by the at least one microphone.

Arraying speakers for a uniform driver field

A noise cancelling headset includes first and second earpieces, each earpiece including a respective feedback microphone, a respective feed-forward microphone, and a respective output driver. A first feedback filter receives an input from at least the first feedback microphone and produces a first filtered feedback signal. A first feed-forward filter receives an input from at least the first feed-forward microphone and produces a first filtered feed-forward signal. A first summer combines the first filtered feedback signal and the first filtered feed-forward signal and produces a first output signal. An output interface provides the first output signal as an output from the headset.

A communication destination device includes a transceiver configured to exchange communication with a first endpoint device via a first wireless communication channel and configured to exchange communication with a second endpoint device via a second wireless communication channel, the second wireless communication channel being distinct from the first wireless communication channel. The communication destination device includes a translator element configured to receive a message from one of the first endpoint device and the second endpoint device and to translate the message from a first message format into a second message format, the second message format being distinct from the first message format.

Method and apparatus for relaying data communications in a Bluetooth network

A device includes an ear occlude, an output transducer that is acoustically coupled to an ear canal of a wearer of the device, a voice microphone configured to generate a first electrical signal that is proportional to a voice-generated sound pressure at the microphone, and signal processing circuitry, electrically coupled to the output transducer and the microphone, including a compensator configured to generate, from the first electrical signal, a second electrical signal, and output the second electrical signal to the output transducer, wherein the compensator is tuned to cause GE, a ratio of a sound pressure within the ear canal to a voice-generated sound pressure at a mouth reference point when the ear is occluded and electronically-aided to be approximately equal to G, a ratio of the sound pressure within the ear canal to the voice-generated sound pressure at the mouth reference point when the ear is unoccluded.

Self-voice occlusion mitigation in headsets

A portable system for enhancing communication between at least two users in proximity to each other includes first and second noise-reducing headsets, each headset including an electroacoustic transducer for providing sound to a respective user's ear and a voice microphone for detecting sound of the respective user's voice and providing a microphone input signal. A first electronic device integral to the first headset and in communication with the second headset generates a first side-tone signal based on the microphone input signal from the first headset, generates a first voice output signal based on the microphone input signal from the first headset, combines the first side-tone signal with a first far-end voice signal associated with the second headset to generate a first combined output signal, and provides the first combined output signal to the first headset for output by the first headset's electroacoustic transducer.

Assisting conversation in noisy environments

Methods and apparatuses for deriving a signal-to-noise ratio based at least in part on a measured level of a signal carrying far-end speech, and a measured level of a signal carrying ambient acoustic noise; determining a target gain adjustment based at least in part on the derived signal-to-noise ratio; applying the target gain adjustment to the signal carrying far-end speech to produce a gain-adjusted signal; and providing the gain-adjusted signal for audio output from a communications device.

Dynamic gain adjustment based on signal to ambient noise level

In an ANR circuit of a personal ANR device, a digital filter is structured to introduce one or more zeros to add gain to introduce positive phase in the provision of feedback-based ANR, wherein the gain follows a frequency-dependent 'ski-slope' gain curve with little gain added at lower audible frequencies, with increasing gain that increases with frequency added at higher audible frequencies, and with the increasing gain flattening at frequencies above audible frequencies.

Digital high frequency phase compensation

An ANR circuit, possibly of a personal ANR device, monitors a sound level of environmental sounds detected by a microphone external to an earpiece in which the ANR circuit is providing feedback-based ANR, and increases or decreases the degree of feedback-based ANR provided in response to the external microphone detecting a higher or lower sound level, respectively. Increasing and decreasing the degree of feedback-based ANR provided may be carried out by changing a variable loop gain of the ANR circuit and/or a range of frequencies of environmental sounds attenuated by the feedback-based ANR.

Feedback-based ANR adjustment responsive to environmental noise levels

An apparatus and method for noise reduction employ a first processor having one or more channels, each channel comprising a respective first processor filter, and each channel configured to receive a respective one of one or more input signals. The first processor is configured to provide an intermediate output signal. The apparatus and method further employ a second processor including a second processor filter configured to receive the intermediate output signal and to provide a noise-reduced output signal. The apparatus and method further employ a first adaptation processor coupled to the first processor and a second adaptation processor coupled to the second processor. In some embodiments, an echo canceling processor reduces an echo portion associated with the noise-reduced output signal. In some embodiments, a response of the first filter portion and of the second filter portion are dynamically adapted.
