This invention provides a radiation cured composition which is curable at low levels of radiation. The composition comprises a crosslinked unsaturated epoxidized diene polymer and a terpene tackifying resin. The invention also encompasses adhesive, coating and sealant compositions made with the above composition.

Radiation cured conjugated diene block copolymer compositions

The invention is a radiation curable printing ink composition comprising a liquid viscous epoxidized diene polymer and a pigment. Preferred diene polymers are block copolymers comprising at least interior and exterior diene blocks wherein the exterior diene blocks contain a greater concentration of di-, tri-, and tetrasubstituted olefinic epoxides than the interior blocks and wherein the copolymer contains from 0.1 to 3.0 Meq of olefinic epoxides per gram of copolymer and the peak molecular weights as determined by gel permeation chromatography of the exterior blocks of from 300 to 2000 and the peak molecular weights as determined by gel permeation chromatography of the interior blocks are from 2,000 to 10,000. In another preferred embodiment, the polymer is a star polymer having a random distribution of from 0.5 to 5 Meq of di-, tri-, and tetrasubstituted olefinic epoxides per gram of polymer and greater than four arms wherein the peak molecular weights as determined by gel permeation chromatography of the arms are from 1500 to 15,000.

Radiation curable printing ink composition

An epoxidized diene star polymer having greater than 4 arms and comprising from 0.05 to 5 Meq of di-, tri- and tetra-substituted olefinic epoxides and the molecular weights of the arms are from 1,500 to 15,000.

The present invention is a process for producing high diblock content block copolymer compositions which comprises (a) anionically polymerizing at least one vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and at least one conjugated diene to form a living block copolymer, (b) coupling the block copolymer with a coupling agent selected from the group consisting of esters of carboxylic acids and asymmetric silanes to create a coupled polymer, (c) combining the coupled polymer with other components to form an enduse composition, and (d) heating the composition at a temperature up to 130.degree. C. for a time sufficient to decouple the coupled copolymer such that the amount of uncoupled copolymer in the composition ranges from 10 to 100% by weight of the total amount of block copolymer.

Process for producing high diblock content block copolymer compositions

A linear styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer composition comprised of linear polymeric blocks wherein the block copolymer composition has a coupling efficiency of from 20 to 40%, a polystyrene content of from 18 to 24%, a polystyrene block molecular weight of from 25,000 to 35,000, and an overall molecular weight of above 280,000 to 520,000. The invention also contemplates adhesive formulations comprising these block copolymer compositions and a tackifying resin.

This invention provides a reactive conjugated diene polymer composition that forms a phase-separated adhesive, sealant, or coating. The composition comprises an epoxidized polymer of conjugated dienes, a second reactive component which is phase separated from the polymerized conjugated diene upon cure, and optionally a tackifying resin. The invention also encompasses adhesive, coating and sealant compositions made with the above composition.

Compatible blends of epoxy resins and epoxidized polydienes

The invention is an adhesive which comprises a linear hydrogenated tri-block copolymer of a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and a conjugated diene which has a coupling efficiency of 45% or greater and which has a peak molecular weight of from 50,000 to 150,000. For purposes of determining the concentration of the other components, the polymer is present in an amount of 100 parts rubber (phr). The adhesive further comprises from 30 to 110 phr of an endblock resin, a low molecular weight vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon, preferably alpha methyl styrene or styrene. Finally, the adhesive comprises from 80 to 210 phr of a hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin having a softening point below 35.degree. C.

A predominantly linear sequentially polymerized styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer composition having a styrene content of from about 17% to about 25% and a diblock content of less than 4% of linear polymeric blocks for use in adhesives.
