A curable composition includes a functionalized fluoropolyether comprising at least one first free-radically reactive functional group, a functionalized polysiloxane comprising at least one second free-radically reactive functional group, and an effective amount of a free-radical curing system. There is provided a curable composition comprising: a) fluoropolyethers having a molecular weight of from about 400 g/mole up to about 20,000 g/mole and containing moieties selected from (&#x2014;(CF)O&#x2014;), (&#x2014;(CF)O&#x2014;), (&#x2014;CFO&#x2014;) or combinations thereof and further containing at least one nitrile group at a terminal position or at a position that is adjacent to the terminal position; and b) one or more curing agents selected from non-fluorinated compounds containing one or more functional group linked to a common residue, said residue containing at least three carbon atoms wherein the functional groups are selected from primary amines, secondary amines and functional groups that generate primary or secondary amines upon heat treatment, wherein the composition can be cured by generating groups having a triazine structure. Triazine containing fluoropolyether elastomers having low glass transition temperature

A method of making a fluoropolyether elastomer containing triazine groups and having a glass transition temperature of less than &#x2212;40&#xb0; C., including providing (i) one or more saturated fluoropolyethers containing repeating moieties selected from (&#x2014;CFO&#x2014;), (&#x2014;CFO&#x2014;), (&#x2014;CFO&#x2014;), (&#x2014;CFO&#x2014;) and combinations thereof and further containing at least one functional group at a terminal carbon atom of the backbone chain, or of a side chain if present, wherein the terminal carbon atom may be a primary or secondary carbon atom and wherein the functional group is capable of reacting with a functional group of the fluorinated compound according to (ii) below to form a triazine ring, (ii) one or more fluorinated compound containing at least one perfluorinated alkyl or perfluorinated alkylene moiety wherein the carbon atoms of the perfluorinated alkyl or alkylene moiety may be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms and wherein the fluorinated compound further contains at least one functional group capable of reacting with the functional group of the one or more fluoropolyethers to form a triazine; curing the components according to (i) and (ii) to form triazines. Further provided are cured compositions, articles comprising the cured compositions and methods of making articles.

Triazine containing fluoropolyether elastomers having very low glass transition temperatures, compositions containing them and methods of making them

The present invention relates to a method of bonding a fluoropolymer layer to a silicone layer by (i) providing a fluoropolymer layer comprising a fluoropolymer capable of being dehydrofluorinated (ii) providing a silicone layer comprising a curable silicone composition comprising (a) an organopolysiloxane compound having SiH groups, (b) an organopolysiloxane compound having aliphatic carbon-carbon unsaturated bonds, (c) a hydrosilylation catalyst and (d) an amino compound having (1) an amine function of the formula &#x2014;NHR wherein R is hydrogen or an organic group and (2) a silyl group of the formula &#x2014;SiR(OR)wherein Rrepresents an alkyl or aryl group, Rrepresents an alkyl group of 2 to 6 carbon atoms and n is 1 or 2 and (iii) contacting said silicone layer and said fluoropolymer layer and causing said curable silicone composition of said silicone layer to cure.

Method of bonding a fluoropolymer to a silicone layer

Provided is a composition comprising a fluorocarbon polymer, a radical initiator, and a first curing co-agent. The first curing co-agent comprises at least one silicon-containing group selected from a hydrocarbyl silane and a hydrocarbyl silazane. Furthermore, the first curing co-agent is substantially free of siloxane groups and comprises at least one polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated group.
