A connector can include a housing and a conductive shield and a pair of latching members. The latching members have free ends with engagement teeth formed on them which are separated by an intervening notch. The sidewalls of this notch can be flat and can define a hard stop surface for engagement with an opposing board connector. The free ends further include ramped surfaces leading to the engagement notch to form cam surfaces that depress the latching members when the cable connector is mated to a board connector. The latching members may include locating tabs that are captured in vertical movement by the housing.

A connector system is disclosed that can support high data rates over a connector with terminals on a 0.5 mm pitch. A plug connector can include a termination module that has a paddle card and a plug module that includes rows of terminals. The termination module and the plug module can be aligned via the row of terminals and pads on the paddle card.

Low profile connector system

A connector system is disclosed that can support high data rates over a connector with terminals on a 0.5 mm pitch. A plug connector can include a termination module that has a paddle card and a plug module that includes rows of terminals. The termination module and the plug module can be aligned via the row of terminals and pads on the paddle card. A receptacle connector includes two rows of terminals that are provided on opposite sides of a tongue. The tongue includes impedance notches aligned with terminals arranged as differential pairs. Ground terminals extend past the differential pairs and along the impedance notch.

A cable connector is provided having an insulative housing, a conductive shield and a pair of latching members. Each latching member has free ends with engagement teeth formed thereon which are separated by an intervening engagement notch. The sidewalls of the engagement notch are flat and define hard stop surfaces in opposing directions for engagement by each latching member with an opposing board connector. The free ends further include ramped surfaces leading to the engagement notch to form cam surfaces that depress each latching member when the cable connector is mated to a board connector. Each latching members may also include locating tabs captured in vertical movement by the cable connector body.
