Audio capture techniques on mobile client devices are described. Video data is obtained by one or more computing devices from a first client device associated with a first user, the video data captured by the first client device of a video scene. Audio data is obtained by the one or more computing devices from a second client device associated with a second user, the second user included in the video data of the video scene. The one or more computing devices ascertain that the audio data is associated with the video data. The association is exposed by the one or more computing device of the audio data to the video data as indicating availability of at least a portion of the audio data as a replacement to audio data captured by the first client device as part of the video data.

Audio capture on mobile client devices

Audio capture techniques on mobile client devices are described. In one or more implementations, techniques are described for leveraging availability of audio data captured by other devices involving a video scene that have an increased proximity to the video scene. Video data is obtained by one or more computing devices from a first client device associated with a first user, the video data captured by the first client device of a video scene. Audio data is obtained by the one or more computing devices from a second client device associated with a second user, the second user included in the video data of the video scene. The one or more computing devices ascertain that the audio data is associated with the video data. The association is exposed by the one or more computing device of the audio data to the video data as indicating availability of at least a portion of the audio data as a replacement to audio data captured by the first client device as part of the video data.

A media editing system includes one or more machines that are configured to support cloud-based collaborative editing of media by one or more client devices. A machine within the media editing system may be configured to receive a render request for generation of a media frame, determine whether a client device is to generate the media frame, and initiate generation of the media frame. Moreover, a machine within the media editing system may facilitate resolution of conflicts between edits to a particular piece of media. Furthermore, a machine within the media editing system may facilitate provision of convenient access to media from a particular client device to one or more additional client devices.

The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to changing video playback rate. In general, one aspect of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in a method that includes providing a user interface for a digital video editing system, the user interface including a graphical representation of playback rate and playback duration for a sequence of digital video, and the user interface including defined points that reference respective frames in the sequence of digital video; receiving input specifying a change in playback rate for the sequence of digital video; and showing the change in playback rate and a corresponding change in playback duration for the sequence of digital video, the showing including moving one of the defined points in accordance with a new temporal position of a corresponding frame referenced by the one of the defined points.

Techniques and systems for recording video and audio in timeline sequences. In some embodiments, a method involves playing video from a timeline sequence that can include footage from portions of video tracks including at least one pre-recorded edit. In response to a selection of footage from the timeline sequence, the method can involve overwriting at least one pre-recorded edit in the timeline sequence. Each video track can correspond to a respective camera in a multiple-camera source. The footage can include one or more video clips, still images, frames, and moving images. The overwriting can occur while playing the video at a play rate faster than realtime, a play rate slower than realtime, a user-selected playing rate, during video scrubbing, or during realtime playback. The recording may involve a jump back input, and punch in and punch out locations associated with the timeline sequence.
