A mounting structure apparatus for dynamically loaded structure joints is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first member having an aperture through a first surface and communicating with a counterbore in a second surface. A second member is included having a blind bore coaxial with the first member aperture. An insert is engageable with the counter bore, and a fastener is disclosed insertable into the first member aperture and interactive with the second member to join the first member to the second member.

Mounting apparatus for dynamically loaded structural joints

A method for controlling a torque transfer device for a vehicle may include identifying a self-locking state of the torque transfer device. The method further may include determining a drivetrain unlocking torque necessary to unlock the torque transfer device in response to identifying the self-locking state. The method further may include determining a drivetrain compensation torque necessary to counteract a drivetrain unlocking torque dynamic effect of the drivetrain unlocking torque in response to identifying the self-locking state. The method further may include applying the drivetrain unlocking torque and the drivetrain compensation torque using one or more drivetrain components of the vehicle in response to identifying the self-locking state.

Torque transfer device control for a vehicle

Methods and systems to assist maneuvering of a trailer being towed by a vehicle. The trailer includes a left wheel, a right wheel, an axle, a left brake device coupled to the left wheel, and a right brake device coupled to the right wheel. The methods and systems receive a driver command for a target path for the trailer, determine a left braking torque for the left wheel and a right braking torque for the right wheel based on the target path so as to provide for differential braking, and apply, via the left brake device and the right brake device, the left braking torque and the right braking torque to assist maneuvering of the trailer along the target path.

Systems and methods to assist maneuvering of a trailer being towed by a vehicle

An anti-lock braking system for a triple axle trailer having three axles and six wheels is disclosed. The system includes a first wheel speed sensor coupled to the first wheel of the trailer, a second wheel speed sensor coupled to the third wheel of the trailer, a spring mount pivotably coupled to the body of the trailer, a first suspension member coupled to the first wheel and to the spring mount and a second suspension member coupled to the second wheel and to the spring mount. The system includes a hydraulic braking actuator having a first channel coupled to the first wheel and the second wheel and a second channel coupled to the third wheel. The spring mount pivots in response to an applied brake torque to increase a normal force applied to the second wheel as compared to a normal force applied to the first wheel.

Systems for anti-lock braking for a tow vehicle

In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, an autonomous system is provided that includes: a tow vehicle, a trailer, and a control system. The tow vehicle has a vehicle battery. The trailer is coupled to the tow vehicle, and has a trailer battery. The control system includes a sensor and a processor. The sensor is configured to at least facilitate measuring a state of charge of the trailer battery. The processor is coupled to the sensor, and is configured to at least facilitate selectively providing current from the tow vehicle to the trailer based on the state of charge of the trailer battery.

Trailer to vehicle integral current draw management

A restraint system is provided for a manned vehicle. The restraint system may optionally be automatically actuated; that is, hands-free to the seat occupant or occupants where the restraint system is vehicle-wide. The restraint system may comprise a first component including an upper restraint and at least one secondary restraint apparatus such as an airbag or a belt system. The restraint system may have a manual override so an occupant can exit when circumstances require, even if the automated parameters would otherwise keep the restraints locked.
