A conversion device for use with a child-resistant container closure of the type including a two-piece housing including a ratchet-type mechanism which is effective to cause the two housing members to turn together as a single unit when the outer housing member is depressed and rotated simultaneously, the conversion device comprising an annular element which is inserted into the open end of the closure and snapped into place to maintain a relative position between the two housing members in which the ratchet mechanism is continuously engaged. The conversion device is mounted on a card member which facilitates assembly of the device with a container closure.

Conversion apparatus for child-resistant container closure

A screw-cap type container comprises a container or bottle having a screw thread and an annular flange formed on a neck thereof. The flange is discontinuous to define a locking slot between its opposite ends. A closure cap has an internal screw thread for engaging the screw thread of the container to releasably secure the closure cap thereon. A lock tab, secured to the closure cap, normally engages within the locking slot to prevent relative rotation between the closure cap and container, when they are threadably secured together. When appropriate finger pressure is applied to the lock tab, it will disengage the locking slot for permitting the closure cap to be unscrewed and removed from the container. The closure cap may be of the 'reminder' type for visually displaying information to a user relating to periodic use of the contents of the container.

Snap-lock for screw-cap container

A surgical instrument in the form of a template comprises at least one slit formed therethrough to guide either pivotal or dragging cutting movement of a surgical blade of a scalpel therein. The instrument is preferably fixedly held, by suction, over a body area to be incised. In one embodiment, the scalpel is pivotally mounted adjacent to the slit for arcuate movement about a fixed pivot to ensure accurate and reproducible incisions. In a second embodiment, grooves are formed alongside the slit to guide dragging movement of the blade. The instrument is particularly adapted for radial keratotomy wherein a plurality of radially extending and circumferentially spaced slits are formed through the instrument. The surgical blade can be adapted for adjustment, on an angularly offset handle secured thereto, to selectively vary the depth of the incision.

Ophthalmologic surgical instrument

A tamper resistant closure member adapted to be affixed to a dispensing container includes an inner housing affixed to the opening of the container. The inner housing has an opening and a recessed portion about the opening. A leaf member is positioned over the opening within the recess and is secured about its edge surface to the inner housing. An outer housing is rotatably nested over the inner housing. The outer housing includes an opening and a projection adjacent the opening. The projection is adapted to be received within the recess to engage and substantially close a leaf member as the opening of the outer housing is rotated in communication with the recess.

Tamper resistant closure member

A liquid dispenser comprises a container defining a liquid retaining chamber therein and at least one dispensing port defined through an upper end of the dispenser for providing the sole dispensing outlet for liquid from the chamber. A hydrophobic and microporous anti-bacterial filter is secured over the port to provide a barrier to the ingress of bacteria and particulate matter therethrough and for permitting the egress of sterile liquid therethrough. The dispenser is preferably constructed at its upper end to coalesce the liquid into droplet form upon dispensing thereof.

An internally sterile pulsatile infusor system comprises an elastic reservoir or bulb connected to a closed, sterile source of a liquid infusion solution. A check valve is connected between the source and bulb to prevent reflux of the solution therepast and a reciprocating piston is arranged to intermittently compress the bulb to create a pulsating discharge of solution through a cannula. In the preferred embodiment of this invention, controls are provided to vary the rate of compressions of the bulb and to also modulate the force of the pulsating discharge through the cannula. The pulsatile infusor system is useful in many areas in the fields of medicine and surgery, including extracapsular cataract extraction and intravenous infusion procedures wherein bloodclots and like blockages must be removed from the cannula.

Internally sterile pulsatile infusor system

A container closure comprises an inner housing having means for sealably mounting to a container. A plurality of indicia are removably disposed in a relatively fixed stationary manner upon the inner housing. An outer housing is rotatably mounted to the inner housing and includes an aperture extending therethrough aligned with the indicia of the inner housing effective to pass the indicia past the aperture for viewing. One of the housings has a plurality of depressed grooves positioned upon its cylindrical walls. At least one rib on the other housing is engageable with at least one of the depressed grooves during the rotation of the outer housing and is restrained in a manner effective to stop the relative rotation of the housings in one direction, yet yieldingly resist rotation of the housings relative to each other in the opposite direction. The indicia are disposed on the inner housing such that predetermined indicia are visible through the aperture when at least one rib is engaged with at least one depressed groove.

Reminder closure

A dispenser for flexible material, wherein the material is disposed in a roll in a housing having a dispensing opening therein, and the material is dispensed by pulling thereon to thereby rotate the roll in the housing, detents being afforded on the roll and housing that are effective to periodically releasably resist further dispensing rotation of the roll during each rotation of the roll.

A 'reminder-cap' type of closure member for containers, such as medicine bottles, embodying two nested housings which are rotatable relative to each other in one direction, and non-rotatable relative to each other in the other direction, and in which the inner of the two housings has indicia thereon, which is viewable from outside the outer housing, and the outer housing has an indicating portion disposed adjacent to the indicia and movable relative to the later during rotation of the housings relative to each other; and which may embody structure that can be latched and unlatched to afford protection against a small child opening the container closed thereby.

Closure members

A surgical instrument tray which may be used for protectively holding surgical instruments during sterilization and storing thereof as well as for so holding the instruments for ready accessibility thereto during an operation, the tray embodying a plurality of compartments which may be programmed as to size and location for holding complete sets of instruments therein in the order of use of the individual instruments during a particular type of surgical procedure, with the compartments embodied in resilient, sterilizable material which is effective to protect the instruments against damage.
