Polyalkylene glycol-based industrial lubricant compositions

1-[di(4-octylphenyl)aminomethyl]tolutriazole is prepared in a mineral oil and blended with a liquid alkylated diphenylamine. The liquid product shows increased storage stability with respect to crystallization of the 1-[di(4-octylphenyl)aminomethyl]tolutriazole when the amine is added. This blend product can be stored for a prolonged period of time, and then utilized in a lubricant composition as an antioxidant and corrosion inhibitor.

Molybdenum-free lubricating compositions are provided, having an antioxidation additive composition based on a combination of (1) alkylated diphenylamine (APDA), (2) polyamine dispersant, and (3) monoglyceride, ethoxylated amide, or mixtures thereof. Further synergy is achieved when component (3) is borated, allowing a reduction in phosphorus levels to below 0.08% or even a phosphorus-free composition.

Antioxidant synergist for lubricating compositions

An additive for imparting antiwear properties to a lubricant composition is based on a combination of (1) an organo borate ester composition and (2) one or more sulfur- or phosphorus-containing compounds or a non-sulfur molybdenum compound. The invention relates an additive for improving antioxidant capabilities in a lubricating composition, where the lubricating composition is based on a major amount of a lubricating oil and 0.1-5.0 mass percent of an additive, the additive including a secondary diarlyamine and an organoammonium tungstate.

Antioxidant additive for lubricant compositions, comprising organotungstate

Antimony dithiocarbamate is known to provide extreme pressure (EP) protection in lubricating compositions, such as grease. However, there is a desire to reduce the amount of antimony used in such compositions, while still maintaining acceptable EP performance. It has now been found by using small amounts of either ammonium dithiocarbamate or zinc dithiocarbamate in combination with the antimony dithiocarbamate (SbDTC), a lower amount of SbDTC can be used in the lubricating composition while still maintaining excellent or exceptional EP protection. To counteract the corrosive effects of the SbDTC and ammonium dithiocarbamate composition, it has been found that compounds containing a carboxylic acid group are effective in avoiding copper corrosion.

Lubricating greases containing antimony dithiocarbamates

A lubrication composition providing excellent anti-wear protection for corrosion-resistant materials which comprises a major amount of a synthetic ester base oil, and a minor amount of a molybdenum compound and an anti-wear additive selected from the group consisting of 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivative as an anti-wear additive, the reaction products of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole dimers and poly(ether)glycols, and 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole monomer and mixtures thereof. Also described is a method for imparting anti-wear properties to a corrosion resistant material, comprising using the lubricating composition of the invention.

Lubricating compositions containing synthetic ester base oil, molybdenum compounds and thiadiazole-based compounds

The invention relates to a novel asymmetrical, secondary dialkylamine-based molybdenum dithiocarbamate with improved friction reducing performance, viscosity and solubility, and lubricating compositions containing the same. The compounds are produced from asymmetrical dialkylamine of the formula R1-NH&#x2014;R2 where R1 and R2 are different, and are independently selected from alkyl groups C3 to C19. In a preferred embodiment, R3 and R4 are different and are independently selected from alkyl groups C3 to C19. The molybdenum dithiocarbamates can be represented by the following formula:
