An apparatus and method for transferring data among clients of a time division multiplexed network is provided. In one aspect of the preset invention the apparatus includes clock circuits that allow for a variable number of time slots and a variable bus cycle of the network. In another aspect of the present invention a network interface module includes an indirection register that contains relationships between memory storage locations and channels of a time domain multiplexed network. In yet another aspect of the present invention, a network interface module is provided that comprises a memory, and first and second registers. In one mode of operation of the network interface module, data from the memory for a client is pre-fetched from the memory, prior to the start of a bus cycle and is stored in the registers to minimize memory access delays in the system.

Apparatus and method for accessing memory in a TDM network

A time division multiplexing ('TDM') digital matrix intercom system for connecting intercom stations. The system includes a digital switching system receiving audio input communications signals from at least some of the intercom stations, and sending audio input communications signals to at least some of the intercom stations. The digital switching system includes a TDM system for broadcasting on a TDM bus multiple digital communications signals including such digital audio input signals. The TDM system includes one or more interfaces connecting intercom stations with the TDM bus. The system also includes a signal mixer which is capable of receiving from the TDM bus selected ones of the digital audio input signals, and creating and broadcasting on the TDM bus a custom mixed digital audio output communications signal which is a loudness weighted mix of such selected digital audio input signals which at least one of such selected signals optionally being given a larger weight corresponding to a louder volume than others of the selected signals. A custom mixed digital audio output signal thus may be routed to a selected one of the intercom stations as an audio output communications signal. Preferably the system includes an integrated circuit for producing custom output mix signals.

TDM digital matrix intercom system

A system for recording, editing, processing and playing digital audio in a real-time, non-linear, non-destructive fashion. The system comprises a collection of the following modules: a disk controller for reading and writing disk-based media: an I/O processor for moving data between the disk controllers, I/O devices and connection bus, a DSP processor for processing data that exists on the connection bus, and a sample playback processor for performing memory-based polyphonic digital playback attached to the connection bus. The system's modules are connected via a connection bus that allows the transfer of multiple channels of information simultaneously in synchronism with the system's variable sample clock.
