In the presence of an indication of change of configuration containing the characteristics of a new configuration of fingers of a 'Rake' receiver, continue performing the combination by using the old configuration (fng, fng, fng) and, only when all the fingers of the new configuration have delivered information, the combination is performed by using the new configuration (fng, fng, fng).

Method of processing signals within a 'Rake' receiver having several fingers during a change of configuration of the fingers, and corresponding 'Rake' receiver

A receiver includes an input for receiving an input signal including a plurality of symbols from a plurality of multi-path transmission channels, and a plurality of fingers are connected to the input. Each finger includes a plurality of demodulation units assigned to the plurality of multi-path transmission channels for demodulation thereof, and each demodulation unit includes a channel correction circuit. A shared memory is upstream from the channel correction circuits and is shared by the demodulation units for performing a delay function therefore. A controller successively time-division multiplexes read and write access operations to the shared memory during successive time slots so that one symbol, for each active multi-path transmission channel, can be read and written during each time slot.

Method of delaying symbols within a 'Rake' receiver, and corresponding 'Rake' receiver

Address pointers (PTFi) associated with corresponding fingers are set to the addresses of a memory means (MM) capable of storing a number of symbols larger than the maximum delay between the paths, these initial addresses being predetermined taking account of differences in the number of symbols between the paths. Under steady state conditions, a current symbol received on a first finger is stored in the said memory at the write address given by the corresponding address pointer, and the said address pointer is then incremented. Before reception of the next symbol on this first finger, the contents of the memory stored at the read addresses denoted by all the other address pointers, are extracted in sequence, these contents are summed (ADD) with the symbols present on the other fingers and, except for the sum corresponding to the last finger, these sums are stored at the same read addresses before incrementing all the other pointers, the last sum corresponding to the last finger being delivered at the output from the receiver.

Rake receiver having several fingers and method of processing an incident signal therein

A method for positioning/routing a clock circuit for an integrated circuit compensates for phase differences by adjusting secondary amplifiers having adjustable input delays. The method includes the steps of positioning first conductive lines parallel to a first direction evenly spaced with respect to the second direction. The first conductive lines are connected to outputs of the first amplifiers. A balanced tree-like structure provides each of the first amplifiers a clock signal coming from a single source. The method further includes the steps of positioning functional blocks for forming the integrated circuit, and the positioning of second lines parallel to the second direction. Each secondary amplifier is routed to the closest second line. An equivalent electrical diagram corresponding to the path taken by the clock signal between the input of the tree-like structure device and the input of each secondary amplifier is determined. The analog simulation of the equivalent electrical diagram and the measurement of the phase delays at the input of each secondary amplifier are performed. The input delay of each secondary amplifier is then adjusted to correspond to the largest measured phase delay.
