Logic included in an IC monitors values of parameters that may affect operation of the IC, such as, for example, supply voltage (V), junction temperature (T) and the frequency of a ring oscillator on the IC. In response to the monitored values, the logic in the IC changes, if necessary, one or more parameters such as V, processor frequency (F), and/or cooling level to control the performance of the IC. Thus, the IC monitors its own environment and operating conditions and takes appropriate steps to control its environment and operating conditions to achieve certain goals.

Method and apparatus for monitoring and controlling the thermal environment and operating conditions of an integrated circuit

Optics are utilized in an input device such as a mouse or keyboard, for example, to detect a condition of one or more selection indicators, such as whether a key or button has been depressed or a scroll wheel has been rotated. Depressing a key, clicking a button and/or rotating a scroll wheel cause one or more optical signals to be reflected from the corresponding selection indicator onto an optical detector. The optical detector generates electrical signals in response to the light received by the optical detector. A computational device of the input device processes the electrical signals to determine whether a key or button has been depressed, whether a scroll wheel has been rotated, etc. The corresponding information is then input to a computer that is interfaced with the input device.

Method and apparatus for optically detecting selections made on an input device

A system and method for utilizing a feedback-based delay stabilization and power optimization circuit. One embodiment of the present invention is directed to an electronic circuit comprising an indicator operable to generate an indicator signal that is proportional to an actual operating speed of an integrated circuit that includes the indicator; and a comparator operable to compare the indicator signal to a reference signal and to generate from the comparison an error signal that is proportional to a difference between the operating speed and a desired operating speed. A signal combining circuit may then generate a feedback signal for a power supply based upon the error signal and an output signal of the power supply.
