A twin plate separation system, comprising a pressure plate, an intermediate plate facing the pressure plate, and a spring separator assembly. The spring separator assembly comprises a mounting extending out from the intermediate plate towards the pressure plate. A spring surrounds the mounting, and the spring is biased to push the pressure plate and the intermediate plate apart. The mounting or another fixture can secure at least one drive strap to the intermediate plate. Alternatively, the mounting extends out of the pressure plate towards the intermediate plate, and the spring surrounds the mounting and is biased to push the pressure plate and the intermediate plate apart. In this alternative, the intermediate plate does not comprise a hole for receiving the mounting.

Twin plate separation systems

A retainer comprises an inner tubular portion fitted to a mounting body. The inner tubular portion comprises an inner circular edge having a radius R. An annular retaining surface is connected to the tubular portion. The annular retaining surface comprises an area bounded by an outer edge and the inner circular edge. The outer edge being bounded by an arc AD comprising a first radius R, a sector CB comprising a second radius R, where R&#x3e;R, a first chord DC connecting the arc AD to the sector CB, and a second chord BA connecting the arc AD to the sector CB. A rocker arm assembly comprises a rocker arm body configured to actuate a valve in a valve train. The retaining surface abuts a spring coil to retain the coil against the rocker arm body, but the retaining surface does not abut a first arm of the spring.

A torque transmitting apparatus may include a cover portion generally defined by a first axis, and a flywheel coupled to the cover portion for rotation therewith. A pressure plate may be coupled to the cover portion for rotation therewith and be axially moveable relative to the cover portion. An intermediate plate may be coupled to the cover portion for rotation therewith. The intermediate plate is axially moveable relative to the cover portion and the pressure plate. A first clutch disk may be at least partially interposed between the pressure plate and the intermediate plate, and a second clutch disk may be at least partially interposed between the flywheel and the intermediate plate. The apparatus may include an axially acting biasing element for exerting an axial force between the pressure plate and the intermediate plate, and a support member extending through the biasing element.

Positive clutch plate separator system

An inertia brake assembly is disclosed. In an embodiment, the inertia brake includes a rotor hub subassembly and an inertia brake subassembly. The inertia brake subassembly includes a first reaction plate arranged opposite a first side of the rotor hub assembly, a second reaction plate arranged opposite a second side of the rotor hub assembly, and one or more connector subassemblies connecting the first reaction plate to the second reaction plate. The one or more connector subassemblies include at least one or more resilient straps, and a spacer disposed between the one or more resilient straps and one of the first and second reaction plates. The spacer is arranged about a diameter of the rotor hub subassembly. In an embodiment, the inertia brake assembly includes a sleeve. An inertia brake subassembly is also disclosed.

Inertia brake

A torque transmitting apparatus includes a cover portion generally defined by a first axis, and a flywheel coupled to the cover portion for rotation therewith. The flywheel is restrained from axial movement relative to the cover portion. The apparatus also includes a pressure plate coupled to the cover portion for rotation therewith, wherein the pressure plate is axially moveable relative to the cover portion. The apparatus also includes an intermediate plate coupled to the cover portion for rotation therewith. The intermediate plate is axially moveable relative to the cover portion and the pressure plate. The apparatus further includes a first clutch disk at least partially interposed between the pressure plate and the intermediate plate, a second clutch disk at least partially interposed between the flywheel and the intermediate plate, an axially acting biasing element for exerting an axial force between the pressure plate and the intermediate plate, and a support member extending through the biasing element.

A release bearing assembly has a roller bearing, an enclosure and a slinger. The enclosure has first and second flange portions. The slinger has a body portion sized for radial disposition within an inner diameter of the first flange portion. A lip portion extends from the body portion and defines a channel between itself and the enclosure.

Release bearing assembly

A clutch release bearing assembly is provided that includes a housing that encloses a bearing, release sleeve and bushing. The housing defines a reservoir for grease that is supplied to the bearing and bushing. Slots are provided in the release sleeve through which grease is provided to the bushing and the input shaft through holes formed in the bushing. An end cap seal prevents contaminants from entering the clutch release bearing assembly on one end and a multi-lip seal is provided between the housing and release sleeve on the other end of the housing.

A manual adjustment mechanism for a clutch is provided wherein an adjusting gear rotates an adjusting ring relative to a pressure plate that are interconnected by means of inclined surfaces or threaded surfaces. The adjustment gear is disposed inboard of a diaphragm spring and is rotated manually with access being provided through the diaphragm spring. The adjusting gear and inclined surfaces may be protected by contamination baffles. The adjusting gear may be locked in place between service operations by means of interlocking elements.

Manually adjustable clutch assembly

A manual adjustment mechanism for a clutch is provided wherein an adjusting gear rotates an adjusting ring relative to a pressure plate that are interconnected by means of an inclined surface or a threaded surface. The adjustment gear is mounted on a shaft and is rotated manually. An externally visible indicator is provided that is based upon axial movement of the adjustment gear shaft that moves with the pressure plate and relative to the clutch housing. The adjusting gear and inclined surfaces may be locked in place between service operations by means of locking elements.

A clutch brake is provided that includes a brake housing adapted to be non-movably secured relative to a driveline master clutch. The brake housing includes a through-hole sized to allow passage of a shaft and at least one source of magnetic flux. The clutch brake also includes an armature secured for rotation with the shaft and positioned axially adjacent the brake housing in a disengaged state. At least a portion of the armature is adapted to move axially on the shaft in the presence of magnetic flux to contact the brake housing in an engaged state and inhibit rotation of the armature and the shaft.
