A device for compressing a gas, including a first () and second element (), wherein the device () includes a cooler () for the compressed gas and an oil reservoir () for each of the elements, wherein a separate drive () is provided for each element, wherein each element and the corresponding drive () are arranged one behind the other, wherein the axial directions (X-X', Y-Y′) of both elements extend parallel to each other, wherein, when the device () is arranged on a base (); each oil reservoir () is located between the drives () and the base (); and the cooler () is located between the elements and the base (), wherein the cooler () is located () adjacent to the oil reservoirs () and extends with its axial direction (Z-Z′) transverse to the axial direction (X-X′, Y-Y′).

Transmission between drive shaft and a driven shaft, which transmission includes a housing and at least a driven gearwheel that is mounted on the driven shaft and a drive gearwheel that is mounted on a drive shaft. The housing is provided with an outlet opening, which outlet opening is placed in the radial extension of one of the gearwheels.

Transmission and compressor or vacuum pump provided with such a transmission

A compressor provided with a compressor element with a driven shaft, a motor with a drive shaft to drive the compressor element, and a transmission between the drive shaft and the driven shaft. The transmission includes a housing and at least a driven gearwheel that is mounted on the driven shaft and a drive gearwheel that is mounted on a drive shaft. The housing includes two separated chambers, a first chamber that is connected to the driven shaft and a second chamber which is separate from the first chamber. The first chamber is connected via a channel with the second chamber, whereby around the drive gearwheel or driven gearwheel, the second chamber is formed. The form of the second chamber is such that when the gearwheel in question rotates, a gas flow is created around this gearwheel which causes a negative pressure in the channel by the venturi effect.
