A receptacle connector assembly includes a receptacle cage including cage walls including a top wall and forming a module channel configured to receive a pluggable module. The top wall includes an opening open to the pluggable module. The receptacle connector assembly includes an EMI gasket coupled to the top wall at the opening. The EMI gasket provides electrical shielding at the opening. The EMI gasket has a base including a mounting surface coupled to the top wall of the receptacle cage. The EMI gasket has a plurality of mating interfaces. The receptacle connector assembly includes a heat sink coupled to the receptacle cage having a heat sink base with a thermal interface located in the module channel and configured to engage the pluggable module to dissipate heat from the pluggable module. The base engages the mating interfaces of the EMI gasket to electrically connect the heat sink to the EMI gasket.

Electrical shielding for a receptacle connector assembly

A receptacle cage includes cage walls forming a module channel that is configured to receive a pluggable module. The cage walls extend between a front end and a rear end of the receptacle cage. At least one of the cage walls is a latch wall including a latching feature configured to engage a latch of the pluggable module to retain the pluggable module in the module channel. The receptacle cage includes a first slider pressure tab. The first slider pressure tab extends from the latch wall into the module channel. The first slider pressure tab is configured to engage a slider arm of the latch to press the slider arm inward toward a pluggable module body of the pluggable module.

EMI shielding for a receptacle cage

A receptacle cage assembly includes a receptacle cage having first and second side walls extending from a top wall at first and second corners. A gasket has EMI springs electrically connected to the receptacle cage and a panel in a panel opening including top EMI springs and first and second side EMI springs. A first corner EMI spring is located outward of the first corner of the receptacle cage to engage the panel at a first corner of the panel opening. A second corner EMI spring is located outward of the second corner of the receptacle cage to engage the panel at a second corner of the panel opening.

A cage includes a housing and a partition assembly mounted in the housing and separating an inner space of the housing into an upper space and a lower space. The partition assembly includes a first support plate and a second support plate arranged horizontally, and at least a pair of support frames disposed between the first support plate and the second support plate to separate the first support plate from the second support plate by a predetermined height. The support frames have a plurality of through holes. The support frames are formed by bending a front end of one of the first support plate and the second support plate.

Cage, electrical equipment and partition assembly

A receptacle cage includes cage walls extending between a front end and a rear end including a top wall and side walls forming a module channel receiving a pluggable module. The receptacle cage includes a gasket at the front end having EMI springs electrically connected to the cage walls. Each EMI spring has a deflectable portion between a base and a distal end. The distal end is split with a first end beam and a second end beam at the distal end separated by a gap. The deflectable portion is spaced apart from the cage wall and is deflectable toward the cage wall. Each EMI spring has first and second side edges between the base and the distal end. The EMI springs are arranged side-by-side without gaps between adjacent EMI springs.

A receptacle connector assembly includes a receptacle cage having first and second side walls extending from a top wall to form a module channel configured to receive a pluggable module. The top wall is non-planar and has a shroud extending therefrom forming a cage polarization feature. The shroud has a first shroud side wall, a second shroud side wall and a shroud top wall forming a polarization feature channel configured to receive a polarization feature of the pluggable module.

A pluggable module includes a pluggable body extending between a front end and a mating end receivable in a module cavity of a receptacle assembly to mate with a communication connector. The pluggable body has a top, a bottom, a first side wall and a second side wall between the top and the bottom and has an upper shell defining the top and a lower shell defining the bottom coupled together at a seam. A seam cover is coupled to the pluggable body at the first side wall covering the seam between the upper shell and the lower shell on the first side wall. The seam cover is conductive and provides EMI shielding at the seam for a communication circuit board held in the pluggable body.

A connector is provided and includes a housing with an electronic module receiving passageway positioned therein. The housing includes a first housing and a second housing. The first housing includes a pair of first sidewalls positioned opposite from each other and a pair of partitions forming a slot extending along each of the pair of first sidewalls. The second housing includes a pair of second sidewalls positioned opposite one another, an extension disposed on each the pair of second sidewalls and corresponding with the slot, and a plurality of ribs extending outward from the extension and corresponding with inner surface of the pair of partitions.

Receptacle assembly includes a receptacle cage having an interior cavity forming first and second module passages. The first and second module passages are configured to receive respective pluggable modules through first and second port openings, respectively, in a loading direction that is parallel to a Z-axis. The receptacle assembly also includes a cage cover positioned at the front end between the first and second port openings. The cage cover includes first and second module fingers. The cage cover also including a ground tab that engages an inner surface of the receptacle cage. The first and second module fingers extend lengthwise in the loading direction. The ground tab extends lengthwise along a Y-axis that is perpendicular to the Z-axis.

Receptacle assembly for a pluggable module and a communication system having the same

A connector assembly includes a cage member receiving a pluggable module and providing electrical shielding for the pluggable module. The cage member is mounted behind a bezel and aligned with a bezel opening. The connector assembly includes an EMI skirt at the front end of the cage member. The EMI skirt includes plural spring beams integral and having a unibody design with the cage member. Each spring beam has a front bend at the exit point from the cage member, a base extending rearward from the front bend and an arm extending from the base outward in a direction generally away from the cage member. The cage member is positioned relative to the bezel such that the arms reside behind the bezel. The arms have bezel mating interfaces configured to engage and electrically connect to the bezel.

A connector module includes a housing that extends along a longitudinal axis between a mating end and a cable end. The housing is defined by a first shell and a second shell that mate at a seam and define an interior chamber therebetween. The first shell and the second shell each includes a cable exit segment that has at least one cable positioning feature extending from an inner surface of the respective cable exit segment. Each cable positioning feature includes at least two posts and a slot defined therebetween. The slots of the cable positioning features are configured to receive a cable between the at least two posts of each corresponding cable positioning feature. The cable extends from the cable end of the housing.

A pluggable module includes a pluggable body extending between a mating end and a cable end. The pluggable body includes a single-piece, unitary shell defining a cavity. The shell is seamless around a perimeter of the shell. An internal circuit board is held in the cavity and surrounded by the unitary shell. The internal circuit board is provided at an end of a cable communicatively coupled to the internal circuit board. The pluggable body is configured to be plugged into a receptacle assembly such that the internal circuit board is communicatively coupled to a communication connector of the receptacle assembly.

Pluggable module for a communication system

A connector module includes a housing and a gasket. The housing is defined by a first shell and a second shell that mate at a seam. The housing includes a cable exit region extending along a cable axis. A passage through the cable exit region has an elliptical cross-section along a plane perpendicular to the cable axis. The gasket is within the passage of the cable exit region. An outer perimeter of the gasket in an uncompressed state has a non-elliptical cross section along a plane perpendicular to the cable axis. The gasket has an outer side engaging the inner surface of the cable exit region and an inner side configured to engage at least one cable received within the cable exit region. As the shells are mated, the gasket is sandwiched in a compressed state between the at least one cable and the cable exit region.

A pluggable module includes a pluggable body extending between a mating end and a cable end. The pluggable body has first and second ends with sides extending therebetween along a length of the pluggable body. The first end, second end and sides define a cavity. The pluggable body includes a plurality of fins extending outward from at least one of the first end, the second end and the sides. Channels are defined between the fins. The pluggable body has grid fins extending across the channels between adjacent fins. The pluggable module includes an internal circuit board held in the cavity. The internal circuit board is provided at an end of a cable communicatively coupled to the internal circuit board. The pluggable body is configured to be plugged into a receptacle assembly such that the internal circuit board is communicatively coupled to a communication connector of the receptacle assembly.

An electrical connector is provided for terminating a cable having a cable shield. The electrical connector includes an electrical contact configured to be terminated to an end of a wire of the cable, and a housing having a body that extends from a mating end to a cable end. The housing includes a connector shield. The electrical contact is held by the housing. The cable end includes a cable channel that is configured to hold an end segment of the cable therein such that the cable shield is electrically engaged with the connector shield. An electromagnetic interference (EMI) absorber is held within the cable channel such that the EMI absorber is configured to extend around the cable shield along at least a portion of a length of the cable channel. The EMI absorber is configured to absorb EMI emitted from the cable.
