A light guide is provided that includes a light chamber defined by isotropically luminant top, bottom, and back surfaces, and a front surface having a translucent lens. The light guide also includes a reflective diaphragm within the chamber that defines a top gap between the diaphragm and the top surface, and a bottom gap between the diaphragm and the bottom surface. The light guide further includes an LED light source located between the diaphragm and the back surface of the chamber. The light guide may also be configured with a front surface having a partially transmissive lens and no reflective diaphragm. A vehicle lighting assembly is also provided that includes a plurality of interconnected light chamber sections comprising light guides.

Vehicular light guides and assemblies with uniform illumination

A Parabolic-Type reflector has a uniform Apparent Brightness over the reflector surface. A model of the reflector is divided into a plurality of elements arrayed radially around the reflector focus. Each element has a length lmeasured radially from the focus and perpendicular to an optical axis of the reflector, and an initial depth d-initmeasured parallel to the optical axis. For each element, a light-angle &#x3b1;is calculated, the angle of light from the light source subtended by the element. An Apparent Brightness is found for each element, AB&#x2261;&#x3b1;/l. The element ewith the lowest Apparent Brightness ABis identified. For each element other than ea required light-angle is found, the required light-angle &#x3b1;-corr=AB&#xd7;l. While maintaining l, the initial depth d-initof the element is reduced to a corrected depth d-corrnecessary to achieve &#x3b1;-corr.
