Innovative peripheral bar assembly for a transportation vehicle is provided. The assembly includes a front bar housing with a front segment and a rear segment; a rear bar housing with a front segment coupled to the rear segment of the front bar housing; and an input/output (I/O) printed circuit board ('PCB') having an I/O connector. The I/O PCB coupled to the rear segment of the front bar housing. The assembly is coupled to a chassis of a display system having a display module, and the I/O connector is coupled to a connector of the display module for enabling an electrical connection between the peripheral bar assembly and the display module.

The assembly includes a front bar housing with a front segment and a rear segment, and a through slot aligned with a diffuser operationally coupled to a first surface of an I/O PCB having a plurality of light sources emitting light that is transmitted through the diffuser and the slot. The present disclosure relates to a monitor assembly for IFE systems. The monitor assembly comprises a screen assembly, a frame element that surrounds a perimeter of the screen or substantial portions thereof, and a cradle that is positioned behind the screen and at least partially encapsulates the frame element. The frame element is preferably made of a material that breaks more easily than the cradle material such that, upon an impact, the frame will break apart to absorb kinetic energy, while the cradle will remain intact and contain the broken frame pieces.

A quick release assembly for use in mounting a display system to a fixture. The system includes an attachment assembly on a back side of the display system that receives pins from a mounting bracket into openings of lock modules that include a latch that holds at least one pin in place. The latch is held in the lock position by spring bias. An actuator wire made of a shape memory alloy contracts when an electrical current is applied. The contraction of the wire overcomes the spring bias to move the latch from the lock position to an unlocked position to allow the display system to be removed from the pin.

A seat device of the vehicle includes a processor executing instructions out of a memory and a display device for displaying content of a media file of an entertainment system. The display device includes a first segment to display content of the media file, and a second segment with a capacitive layer. The second layer includes an auxiliary control segment with input icons to control media file presentation without displaying any control icons within the first segment while the content is being played, and/or an auxiliary display segment separate from the first segment to display messages without interrupting media file presentation.
