An insertable catheter device includes a shaft including a proximal end and a distal end, an expandable balloon, and an actuator configured to expand and retract the expandable balloon. The actuator includes a fluid conduit that extends through the shaft and is coupled with the expandable balloon to enable inflation and retraction of the expandable balloon via injection or withdrawal of a fluid to or from the expandable balloon via the fluid conduit. The expandable balloon is displaceably retractable into the shaft and extendable from the shaft. A fluid pump is coupled with the fluid conduit to pump the fluid through the fluid conduit. A patch is positioned to be displaced by the expandable balloon when the expandable balloon is inflated, and the expandable balloon is displaceably retractable into the shaft and displaceably extendable from the shaft.

Systems and Methods for controlling one or more mechanical resonators and determining information from resonant shift of the resonator(s) behavior, including at least one mechanical resonator, an excitation element for driving the resonator(s), a sensor for monitoring the motion of the resonator(s), at least one phase locked loop (PLL) in feedback between the excitation and monitoring elements, wherein each PLL is configured to operate at or near a different resonant mode of the resonator(s), and a processor for determining information from PLL internal signals indicative of a resonator frequency shift.

An insertable light-dispensing catheter device, comprising a shaft including a proximal and distal end, a light guide extending through the shaft, and a mirror displaceably extendable from the catheter into a position where the mirror receives and reflects light emitted from the light guide. The mirror can be in the form of a coating on an inflatable balloon; and the balloon, when inflated, can press a patch against a defect (e.g., a ventricular septical defect), while the light cures an adhesive that binds the patch to the structure with the defect, thereby remedying the defect.

Catheter device for transmitting and reflecting light

The invention provides an open-stage near-TIRF microscope in which all of the optical components are positioned underneath the sample, allowing for physical access to, and control over the environment of, the sample. The microscope can be used to image cells expressing fluorescent voltage indicators. Since the TIRF components do not interfere with the sample, living cells can be studied using a microscope of the invention. Where a sample includes electrically active cells expressing fluorescent voltage indicators, the microscope can be used to view voltage changes in, and thus the electrical activity of, those cells.

Optogenetics microscope

High throughput system for in vivo screens on vertebrate larvae. The system includes a source of vertebrate larvae in a liquid medium and loading tube means for aspirating a larva. A detector assembly is provided to differentiate passage of a larva from bubbles and/or debris. An imaging means is provided for both confocal imaging and wide-field fluorescence imaging of the larva. A laser is provided for optical manipulation of the larva.
