Disclosed are methods for treating platelet compositions (e.g. platelet concentrates and/or platelet lysates) with electron beam radiation, where the compositions are in a frozen state during irradiation with the e-beam radiation. The methods can be conducted using e-beam radiation at doses effective to reduce the pathogen content of the compositions while retaining highly beneficial bioactivities of the compositions. Also disclosed are compositions preparable by the methods, and methods and compositions involving the use of the e-beam treated materials.

Pathogen reduced platelet compositions and related methods

The present invention provides, in certain aspects, medical graft products that incorporate multiple drug depots in and/or on the products. One such product is a sheet graft construct, for example for tissue support that includes a sheet graft material with a plurality of drug depots. The drug depots can be hardened deposits formed directly onto the sheet graft material and/or can be capable of eluting a drug for a minimum of 72 hours.

The present embodiments provide an endoluminal prosthesis, such as a stent-graft, having a relatively low delivery profile. In one embodiment, the prosthesis comprises a membrane, and at least one stent having contracted and expanded states, where the stent is coupled to the membrane and maintains patency in the expanded state. The prosthesis further may comprise selectively oriented axial and/or circumferential fibers arranged at predetermined locations along the length and circumference of the prosthesis. Selectively orienting axial fibers and circumferential fibers at predetermined locations along the length and circumference of the prosthesis, but not continuously along the entire prosthesis, significantly reduces delivery profile due to the reduction in graft material.

A method of forming a surface structure of a component of a medical devices includes forming a fatigue-resistant portion, which entails forming a first layer comprising a transition metal selected from the group consisting of Ta, Nb, Mo, V, Mn, Fe, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, and Si on at least a portion of a surface of the component, where the surface comprises a nickel-titanium alloy, and alloying the transition metal of the first layer with the nickel-titanium alloy of the surface. The method further includes forming a rough outer surface of the fatigue-resistant portion, where the rough outer surface is adapted for adhesion of a material thereto.

Surface structure of a component of a medical device and a method of forming the surface structure

Osteogenic compositions include a decellularized extracellular matrix tissue and bone morphogenic protein, preferably BMP-2. The compositions make beneficial use of the BMP, which can be used at relatively low doses and can bind to native components (e.g., native sulfated glycosaminoglycans such as heparin and/or heparan sulfate) remaining in the decellularized extracellular matrix tissue. Articulating balloon catheters and methods of using articulating balloon catheters are described herein. An embodiment of an articulating balloon catheter comprises an elongate member and a balloon. The balloon is attached to the elongate member and is adapted to move between a deflated configuration and an inflated configuration. The balloon has a proximal portion, a distal portion, and an articulating region disposed between the proximal portion and the distal portion. The articulating region of the balloon is configured to provide articulation between the proximal portion and the distal portion of the balloon.

The invention relates to an antimicrobial barrier device and methods of manufacture. The antimicrobial barrier comprises one or more antimicrobial drugs that inhibit biofilm formation and bacterial and/or fungal growth. A method of making a stent-graft is provided. The method includes mounting a stent on a mandrel so that the stent is stretched when it is on the mandrel. A graft layer is then adhered to the stent while it is mounted on the mandrel. When the stent-graft is removed from the mandrel, the stent contracts and the graft layer becomes partially wrinkled when the stent is in its expanded relaxed state.

An aortic stent-graft may include a tubular graft extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the graft comprising a proximal sealing portion and an intermediate portion, wherein a proximal end of the intermediate portion abuts the distal end of the proximal sealing portion.
