A steam generation system comprises: an oxygenated water treatment (OWT) sub-system configured to generate water having oxidizing chemistry; a steam generation sub-system configured to convert the water having oxidizing chemistry into steam having oxidizing chemistry; an attemperator or other injection device or devices configured to add an oxygen scavenger to the steam having oxidizing chemistry to generate steam having less oxidizing or reducing chemistry; and a condenser configured to condense the steam having less oxidizing or reducing chemistry into condensed water.

Hybrid water treatment for high temperature steam generators

A method for producing chromium carbide coatings on steel provides a steel component having a surface which is carburized to contain at least about 0.40% by weight carbon and is followed by chromizing the surface to form a chromium carbide coating on the surface.

Method for producing chromium carbide coatings

A method for improving the fracture toughness for aluminum-based diffusion coatings by thermal spray means to simultaneously apply aluminum, chromium, boron, and/or silicon onto a steel workpiece, followed by heat treatment of the workpiece for a sufficient time to cause the aluminum, chromium, boron, and/or silicon to diffuse into the workpiece. The resulting diffusion coating demonstrates improved fracture toughness and does not necessitate the use of a slurry.

Method for increasing fracture toughness in aluminum-based diffusion coatings

A method for improving the corrosion resistance, increasing the hardness, providing superior ductility, and reducing surface-cracking of a diffusion coating by nitriding and heating-treating the diffusion coating is disclosed. The nitriding and heat-treating may occur subsequently or simultaneously. Further, the disclosed method may be practiced subsequent to or incorporated as an intergral part of any known diffusion coating process which utilizes a heating step in a furnace having a cover gas.

Modification of diffusion coating grain structure by nitriding

A chromium aluminum and/or silicon diffusion coating is applied to a high temperature substrate such as a boiler tube by induction heating at a predetermined frequency of a known coating preparation such as pack cementation of the coating on the substrate to provide an improved coating of predetermined thickness with increased corrosion resistance.
