Iminoorganosilanes may be prepared by reacting aminoorganosilanes with organoimines by an amine exchange reaction. The resultant iminoorganosilanes can then be catalytically reduced to produce secondary and tertiary amino silanes. Imidoorganosilanes can be prepared by a similar amine reaction between aminoorganosilanes and organoimides. The imidoorganosilanes can also be reacted to produce tertiary amines. Water-sensitive silane reactants may be employed to yield water-sensitive imino, imido, or amino silane products.

Process for the preparation of secondary and tertiary amino-functional silanes, iminoorganosilanes and/or imidoorganosilanes

A process is provided for preparing an N-silylorganocarbamate, which comprises: providing a mixture of aminoorganosilane and a catalytically effective amount of basic catalyst and; combining the mixture of aminoorganosilane and basic catalyst with an organocarbonate ester the mixture of aminoorganosilane and basic catalyst, the organocarbonate ester or both being at elevated temperature at the time of their being combined.

Process for the preparation of N-silylorganocarbamates

A process is disclosed for the synthesis of N-cycloalkylaminoalkylsilanes, wherein the process comprises hydrogenating the corresponding N-arylaminoalkylsilanes in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of a supported or unsupported catalyst selected from the group consisting of palladium, platinum, nickel, rhenium, rhodium, ruthenium, copper chromite, and mixtures of the foregoing.

A process is provided for preparing a bis(silylorgano)amine in which a cyanoorganosilane is reacted with hydrogen under hydrogenation conditions in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of hydrogenation catalyst selected from the group consisting of rhodium, ruthenium, palladium and platinum to produce the secondary aminoorganosilane.

Process for preparing bis(silylorgano)amines

A process is provided for preparing a primary aniinoorganosilane in which a cyanoorganosilane is reacted with hydrogen under hydrogenation conditions and in the substantial absence of water in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of sponge cobalt to produce the primary aminoorganosilane.
