A mobile fixture configured to move a structure in a manufacturing environment may include a motorized base configured to move on a surface and a support system connected to the motorized base, the support system being configured to support the structure, the support system being configured to position the structure along at least one of an X-axis, a Y-axis, and a Z-axis, the support system being configured to position the structure about the Z-axis, and the support system being configured to provide free rotation of the structure about at least one of the X-axis and the Y-axis.

Apparatus and method for moving a structure in a manufacturing environment

A dry bay sealing assembly is provided that includes a first end plate and a second end plate that are configured to be disposed on respective opposite first and second sides of a structural member proximate to a joint defined between the structural member and a fitting. A low-profile, automated guided vehicle (AGV) performs surface treatments over large areas of a structure having limited access, such as an aircraft underbelly. The AGV includes a movable gantry provided with automated robot. The robot has interchangeable end effectors for carrying out the surface treatments. One system includes a plurality of vehicles configured to support the object, wherein each of the vehicles includes omni-directional wheels and a height adjusting device. The system also includes a control system in communication with the plurality of vehicles, wherein the control system is configured to transmit a signal to the plurality of vehicles instructing the plurality of vehicles to move the object in a predetermined direction along the floor. Each of the plurality of vehicles is configured to adjust at least one of a direction of movement using the omni-directional wheels or a height at which the object is supported while moving the part in the predetermined direction using the height adjusting device.
