A message digester includes an append bits module that appends padding bits to a message, an append length module that appends length data to the message, the length data representing an amount of data in the message, an initialization module that stores predetermined values in buffers, an array that stores constants, and a looping message-digest calculation module that generates a message digest based on the message, padding bits, length data, the predetermined values in the buffers, and the constants.

Message digest generator

In a wireless multihop network having node devices within communication range neighboring node devices in a corresponding local neighborhood, the node devices generate visibility messages to be transmitted via connection-less broadcast. The visibility messages include at least an identifier of the corresponding node device. Visibility messages received by each of the node devices from the one or more neighboring node devices are processed to determine a measure of density of the local neighborhood. This measure of density also accounts for the heterogeneous transmit power capabilities of node devices and is used for updating of one or more operational parameter of the node device relating to utilization of the radio communications medium by that node device. A degree of utilization of the medium through the control of transmission data rate and power is adjusted based on an inverse relation to the measure of density determined from the received visibility messages.

Informational broadcast messages and its uses in wireless multihop networks

A cordless telephone base unit includes first and second network controllers and a terminal controller. The first network controller establishes concurrent call sessions for a single voice call account with a service provider over the Internet. Each of the concurrent call sessions includes at least one media session. Each of the media sessions has a corresponding software port number. The second network controller wirelessly communicates with cordless telephones, which each have a corresponding IP address. The terminal controller connects each of the media sessions to one or more of the cordless telephones and includes a switch logic that implements a terminal map, and a switch fabric that connects the cordless telephones with the media sessions according to the terminal map. The terminal map associates the corresponding IP address of each of the cordless telephones with the corresponding software port numbers of one or more of the media sessions.
