A support structure is provided that enables an existing kilowatt-hour meter to be updated with additional auxiliary electronic components. The support structure comprises a base ring that is shaped to be received within a circular slot of an existing kilowatt-hour meter and latches are provided that lock the base ring between the existing base portion of a kilowatt-hour meter and its frame. A plurality of support plates are attached to the base ring by a plurality of posts. The base ring and posts are disposed in a radial pattern about the central axis of symmetry of the base ring in such a way so as to permit the support structure to pass over and extend beyond the existing components of the original kilowatt-hour meter. Electrical connection between existing meter components and auxiliary electronic components is provided by flexible ribbon connectors, cables or individual conductors and an elongated cover is used to provide protection of both the original kilowatt-hour meter and the auxiliary components.

Auxiliary equipment mounting ring for electric meter

A one-piece, molded, terminal cover providing a weatherproof enclosure externally of a field-mounted component is disclosed. A first member has a back face adapted for external connection to the field-mounted component. The back face has at least one opening communicating with an opening in the field-mounted component through which outgoing wires extend. The back face further has a continuous, external rib around the opening for providing a gasket. The first member additionally has a top face, a bottom face and two side faces. A second member has a front face, a top face, a bottom face and two side faces. The bottom face has at least one opening through which incoming wires extend. The first and second members are flexibly hinged and cooperate when in the closed position to define the weatherproof enclosure wherein the incoming and outgoing wires are connectable. Means are provided for locking the first and second members in the closed position.

A detachable enclosure unit for use at standard watthour meter sockets includes a central housing for carrying auxiliary equipment and an integral mounting extension with a snap-on retainer for adaptive mounting to both ring and ringless sockets. The retainer provides a removable circumferentially disposed flange surface equally accommodating the different types of meter sockets.

Auxiliary equipment enclosure unit for watthour meter sockets

A detachable enclosure unit for use at standard watthour meter sockets includes a central housing for carrying auxiliary equipment and a rear adaptive socket attachment assembly having a mounting extension and a retainer ring for adaptive mounting to both ring and ringless sockets. The retainer ring provides a circularly extending and radially disposed surface equally accommodating the different types of meter sockets.
