A submersible current sensor for sensing a current in a submerged conductor includes: a split core current transformer constructed to generate an output representative of the current carried by the conductor, the split core having a first core member, a first winding disposed about at least a portion of the first core member; a second core member; and a second winding disposed about at least a portion of the second core member; and a housing, the housing including: a first housing member constructed to house the first core member and the first winding; and a second housing member constructed to house the second core member and the second winding.

Submersible split core current sensor and housing

A split core current sensor a core subdivided into a first core section and a second core section, each of which have a first end and a second end. The first core section and the second core section are spaced apart by a gap. The sensor also includes a plurality of coil windings disposed about the core. A first coil winding is disposed proximate to the first end of the first core section; a second coil winding is disposed proximate to the second end of the first core section; a third coil winding is disposed proximate to the first end of the second core section; and a fourth coil winding is disposed proximate to a second end of the second core section. Each of the first core section and the second core section include a central portion disposed between the first and second ends that is free of coil windings.

Split core current sensor

Instrument transformer for power grid conductor includes: a current sensing device having a secondary coil winding through which a power grid primary conductor is capable of extending and connecting to a primary conductor connector, a first low voltage (LV) lead connected to the secondary coil winding and a LV connector, and a first high voltage (HV) lead connected between the primary conductor connector and a HV connector, the voltage sensing device having a core with a primary coil winding, a second HV lead connected between a HV connector and primary coil winding, a grounding conductor connected between the primary coil winding and an output terminal, a second LV lead connected between a LV connector and output terminal, wherein the current and voltage sensing devices are electrically connected via HV and LV connectors, and wherein the current and voltage sensing devices are separable when corresponding HV and LV connectors are disconnected.

Instrument transformer for measuring at least one electricity property in a conductor of a power grid

An electrostatic shield for controlling the electrostatic field between a high voltage conductor and a low voltage conductor in an instrument transformer is provided. The instrument transformer has a current transformer and a voltage transformer. The current transformer has a split core which includes a first core segment and a second core segment. When the first core segment adjoins the second core segment, a current transformer is formed, having a core formed from the first and second core segments. The high voltage conductor runs between the first and second core segments of the current transformer. The first core segment is encapsulated in a polymer resin and when encapsulated, forms a first encasement. The second core segment has a low voltage winding mounted thereon. The electrostatic shield is disposed between the low voltage winding and the high voltage conductor. A second encasement is formed by encapsulating the electrostatic shield, low voltage winding and second core segment in a polymer resin.

Electrostatic shield for a transformer

A mounting frame for removeably mounting one or more electrical devices has a base, a mounting bracket and a plurality of platforms for mounting the electrical devices thereon. The mounting bracket has openings for engaging with mounting bolts on a utility pole or other support structure. The mounting frame is balanced and has an eye bolt for elevating the frame to the desired level on the support structure during installation.

Electrical equipment mounting frame

An instrument transformer for measuring properties of electricity in a power line is provided. The instrument transformer includes a cover section releasably secured to a base section. The cover section includes a first core segment encapsulated in a first encasement formed from a polymer resin. The base section includes a second core segment with a low voltage winding mounted thereto and a voltage transformer, all of which are encapsulated in a second encasement formed from a polymer resin. When the cover section and the base section are secured together, the first core segment adjoins the second core segment, thereby forming a current transformer having a core formed from the first and second core segments. A method for making the instrument transformer includes the connection of the cover section to the base section to form a passage through which a high voltage conductor may extend.
