A two catalyst system is described having separate catalyst beds for the selective conversion of acetylene to ethylene which reduces the concentration of acetylene, dienes, O2, and NOx is disclosed. An ethylene containing gas stream, such as an off-gas stream from a refinery catalytic cracking unit used in the production of fuels and gas oils, is treated by first contacting the gas stream with a silver catalyst supported on a metal oxide and subsequently contacting the gas stream with a ruthenium catalyst supported on metal oxide. The two catalysts are contained within contiguous continuous reactors or reactor compartments.

Method and system for purifying an ethylene-containing gas stream

A method for purification of ethylene-containing feedstreams from steam crackers or fluid catalytic crackers (FCC), wherein the feedstreams further comprises hydrogen, carbon monoxide, acetylenes, oxygen, nitric oxides, is disclosed. The method comprises contacting an ethylene-comprising gas stream with a Ru-based catalyst at reaction temperatures of at least 120&#xb0;C. The process results in an ethylene-containing feedstream wherein the ethylene is essentially free of acetylenes, nitric oxides and oxygen. The purifying of the feedstream occurs with minimal loss of ethylene.

Process for purification of ethylene-containing feedstreams

A catalyst for selective hydrogenation of acetylenes and diolefins, particularly in a raw gas feed stream for front end selective hydrogenation. The catalyst contains a low surface area carrier with a surface area from about 2-20 m2/g, wherein the pore volume of the pores of the carrier is greater than about 0.4 cc/g, at least 90 percent of the pore volume of the pores is contained within pores having a pore diameter greater than about 500 &#x212b; and about 1 to about 2 percent of the total pore volume is contained in pores with a pore diameter from about 500 to about 1,000 &#x212b;. The palladium comprises about 0.01 to about 0.1 weight % and a Group IB metal comprises about 0.005 to about 0.06 weight % of the catalyst.

Selective hydrogenation catalyst designed for raw gas feed streams

A catalyst for selective hydrogenation of acetylenes and diolefins, particularly in a raw gas feed stream for front end selective hydrogenation. The catalyst contains a low surface area carrier with a surface area from about 2-20 m/g, wherein the pore volume of the pores of the carrier is greater than about 0.4 cc/g, wherein at least 90 percent of the pore volume of the pores is contained within pores having a pore diameter greater than about 500 &#x212b; and wherein from about 1 to about 2 percent of the total pore volume is contained in pores with a pore diameter from about 500 to about 1,000 &#x212b;, palladium, wherein the palladium comprises from about 0.01 to about 0.1 weight percent of the catalyst, and a Group IB metal, wherein the Group IB metal comprises from about 0.005 to about 0.06 weight percent of the catalyst.

A catalyst for selective hydrogenation of acetylene including a high surface area support material with a surface area at least about 150 m/g and gold wherein the gold comprises from about 0.05 to about 5.0 weight percent of the catalyst and wherein the depth of penetration of the gold into the support material is such that at least about 90 percent of the gold is located within about 250 microns of the surface of the catalyst. A noble metal additive may also be included in the gold catalyst.

Selective hydrogenation catalyst

A process for selective hydrogenation of acetylene during ethylene purification without in-situ prereduction utilizing a palladium/gold impregnated catalyst wherein the ratio of the gold to the palladium is from about 6:1 to about 50:1.

Process for selective hydrogenation of acetylene in an ethylene purification process

A process for selective hydrogenation of a C and C olefinic feed stream containing acetylenic and diolefinic impurities whereby the acetylenes and diolefins impurities are selectively hydrogenated concurrently in a vapor phase process without first separating the C and C olefinic gases into separate feed stream.

Process for selective hydrogenation of an olefinic feed stream containing acetylenic and diolefinic impurities

An adsorbent product for the adsorption of trace elements of sulfur, arsenic, mercury, compounds which contain these elements or metal hydrides from a hydrocarbon gas stream, preferably an olefinic or paraffinic stream, wherein the adsorbent product is iron oxide and manganese oxide placed on a support material, preferably aluminum oxide. Also disclosed is a process for the use of this adsorbent product for the removal of trace elements of arsenic, mercury and sulfur or compounds containing those elements or metal hydrides from a hydrocarbon gas stream, preferably an olefinic or paraffinic gas stream.
